This may be a hint as to my "level" of entertainment, but the Balagio is a place to go see. I like to hit the buffet about 3 after watching the fountain show once or twice. Then eat for 3 or 4 hours, then walk around the fountain show at night for an hour or so and watch the people and fountain show several more times.

Is there really going to anything 'Great" at the show, something to energize the buying public? Or will it just be "Bold New Graphics" again? Any predictions or inside info?
I know there are a few really neat things.
Remington's new 9mm pistol is pretty cool. And they did update/upgrade several versions of the VersaMax, with design input from yours truly. The 3Gun version has rifle sights, 8 and 10 round capacity chocie, and the one piece tube with a carbon fiber shroud that I designed. The extended lifter (no need to weld them anymore) is also on the new 3G and is being carried through the line. There is also a wood stocked version.
Burris has 4 new lines of optics, with 5x zoom and better glass.
With ammo and components coming on line, everyone there won't be trying to scavenge a box of ammo from everyone they meet.
I am sure there will be some cool stuff, but I doubt anything really "Great" as a lot of R&D and development got back-burnered in attempts to satisfy buying frenzy demands.

The Shot Show was beyond my wildest imagination. The show is huge and it was extremely difficult to cover the show even with great discretion on where we stopped.

No gun pics, sorry. Powder and .22 ammo still have large backorders. More AR sh*t then you could imagine. I was underwhelmed. Maybe it was me.

Done with SHOT! There are some new things that are cool. The top three for me... The DPMS G2 is an engineering masterpiece. So many little improvements and a few leaps. A 7+ pounds AR platform rifle that shoots the .308 Win. 2nd, the modular suppressor from H&K is another engineering masterpiece, and the new one coming out in a few months...even better. 3rd, the overall success was better. Most manufacturers said they had the best show in years.
Honorable mentions, the Burris XTR2 line up is very impressive. Excellent glass, reticles done right and great strength. The new Remington R51 is really cool and of course, the 3G Versa-Max.
The knock-off artists from Asia were busy snapping photos, there were lots of ARs, lots of re-branded stuff. .22 ammo sources are opening up and powder/primer bullets are close to shaking free, so don't panic. Except for the few above, nothing really novel. About 67K people and over 17 million tons of freight. Forklifts with crates full of guns were under the watchful eyes of LEOs.

Yeah, I've never been too into the whole "exotic gun" market (i.e. Tavor, Kel Tec RFB, FS 2000, PS-90, etc). I guess for those of you who are, these are right up your alley. Randy and I talked a bit about that and the conclusion we came up with is just get yourself a quality AR, kit it out around what you'll be using it for and run it. Everything else just seems to be an solution in search of a problem. Again, I have no stake in the game so whatever floats yer boat, I'm happy for you. I just prefer to keep it simple.

People at SHOT know to point the guns at the ground or at an inanimate opject close to the muzzle where it won't end up getting stuffed in someone's facehole. There are A LOT of weapon systems and people like to check the feel of the triggers on them.

Definately looks nice for a USA born bullpup, but Desert Tech's precision rifles are bloody expensive. I have this feeling their "bullpup MDR" is going to cost more than the TAVOR.
Keltec also has a 5.56 bullpup, in fact two of them; modern and Retro. Doesn't matter though, this is Kel Tec, they wont make enough to meet demand and create vaporware essentially, making people pay way above their MSRP.

Looks like we have a wait, full scale production is not planned until 2015. The .308 version is set around $2500, who knows what the 5.56/300 BLK is going to be.
The system is still under development, with production expected to start in 2015. While nothing is set in stone, the company has a target price of $2,450 for the .308 Win rifle. Other calibers will include .223 Rem and .300 BLK.

Too many dumbasses nowadays shooting themselves or others because of the number #1 violation of firearm safety: don't put your finger on the trigger unless you mean it. if your taking a "selfie", at least do it responsibly; there are way too many shitbirds out there that take these pics literally...

If I could trust KelTec not to screw things up and either make a rifle that doesn't work right (like the RFB) or not produce enough to meet demand and thus have to jack the MSRP up to compensate (like the KSG) I'd be more excited about their 5.56mm bullpups.
So far the only thing I've seen in the coverage of SHOT this year that has me all that excited is the new Remington R51. Basically they've moderninzed the century old Model 51 and made a real interesting modern but classic CCW piece.

Looked well designed and compact. Then I read the full specs, ouch! $300 MSRP, and weights 13.2 ounces, damn, heavy as hell. That is the same weight as the 3x AR332 sight.
For 60% the cost of an AIMPOINT and more than 2 times the weight not sure if it is my thing.

Yeah, that one's kind of nifty. My only concerns are 1) the grip angle looks uncomfortable (especially with 3" slugs) and 2) I have to wonder how heavy that trigger is since its basically just a double action revolver turning a HUGE cylinder.

Where did you find a price? I assume it's going to be expensive just because everything else Crye makes is expensive. If it can be had for the same or less than a KSG I might consider it, but otherwise I agree the KSG would be the better buy.
Any word on when that new DD stock will be available?
The only thing I saw was, "Will come standard on their rifles first and then sold separately at another time." Doesn't give you any dates, and DD's website last I checked days ago doesn't even show the new stocks on their rifles. So who knows................
BTW the other theme at SHOT SHOW this year by looking at all the coverage and pictures was "ZOMBIE Green" is out!!! Thanks GOD!

I was a little disappointed in two things from the coverage I saw this year.
1.) The lack of unique functional KEYMOD attachments other than those that are already out. The BCM keymod grip is nice, the only other unique thing, was PWS's handstop that looks different, huge, but different. Other than that jack shit.

Last you year they had a lot of updates, some new stuff etc. This year the MIAD 1.1 grip which to me looks just like the original MIAD grip, the MOE QD sling attachment and the End plate QD. Which none are really different than what other companys have already done.

Didn't read thread, but I'm very excited about the .308 Desert Tactical Bullpup, esp with different barrel lengths perhaps.
Maybe someday make that my trifecta, a Tavor, .308 DT bullpup, and a RND 3000 .50BMG (or just a nice savage 308 or 3006)

Kel Tec is one of the most innovative firearms manufacturers out there. It's too bad they seem to be more focused on innovating rather than producing. I have a sub2k in .40S&W. One day I would like a KSG a PLR16 and maybe a RDB. I won't be holding my breath or paying way over MSRP for any of them.

I wanted their KSG for the longest time but gave up when I saw they never had them in stock anywhere, and those that did have were ridiculously priced to the MSRP even. Gave up........... I like their bullpup, and the Desert Tech MDR looks to be 50% more than a TAVOR. I guess I will give up on my BULLPUP dream.

Where did you find a price? I assume it's going to be expensive just because everything else Crye makes is expensive. If it can be had for the same or less than a KSG I might consider it, but otherwise I agree the KSG would be the better buy.

For that money i'd would suggest a bennelli M1 through 4, or the Versa Max Having shot the KSG, outside the "kool" factor, there are much better shotguns for less, or equal money.

With shotguns it has more to do with the length of the magazine in inches ... the KSG (and presumably the UTAS) slip under the law because they each have TWO magazines.
By 13, you mean 14+1? Doesn't matter as the general consenus seems to have concluded that because it's 2 magazine tubes that have to be swapped between, it skirts the law. I wouldn't take mine and show it off to DPD or anything though.
General consensus only matters if it goes to a Jury, and even then...

Kinda what I thought. I'll admit that I only want one for the tacticool factor. My measly 12 guns and phone are enough to handle any home invasion.
For that money i'd would suggest a bennelli M1 through 4, or the Versa Max Having shot the KSG, outside the "kool" factor, there are much better shotguns for less, or equal money.

Several dealers in CO stock them and in general FFLs tend to be OVERLY CAUTIOUS when it comes to these sort of things.
The AGs office and 3 LEAs. I'll admit some will see it as a loophole and or a gray area, others may not.

I would only want one because the higher magazine capacity and short OAL makes it great (on paper) as a home defense weapon.
