I'm not sure when this was taken for sure. Maybe 2007, might even be at Cheyenne Wells. Someone had an RC helicopter out there and took this picture.

Thought I'd share it with you guys, it gives a good distance scale of some of the propane tank targets that were out there, the fresh tracks in the field and how big the firing line was. It doesn't show any of the bigger targets that were WAY out there, I think there were a few cars too.

Those night shoots were something to experience! Sure miss 'em.39081

I think I was at this one. A group with a 88 blew out some windows on the Humvee next to it(shock wave)

My dollar says that's at Cheyenne Wells. Me and the grandson were there that year, and that sure looks like the place. It was a hoot! I heard the firing line was 900 yards long. That photo doesn't do justice to the actual size of the whole thing. We didn't even get from end to end, and that weekend sure cost me a lot of money! But we got to see and shoot things we'll never get to again.

The firing line had 110 shooting positions each 10 foot long for a total of 1100 feet of firing line. All positions had at least 1000 yards down range. Some positions on the west (?) end of the line had out to 1300 yards down range. That would be on the upper end of the picture. I have a shot up target barrel sitting in my back yard from one of those shoots.

I have a 50 Cal and would love to go. Is this an anual get-to-gether? That looks like so much fun.

I think I was at that one as well. Shot some of blukers guns but didn't have enough to shoot the 50 of the HUMVEE.
this shoot inspired me to get my Barrett! Wish the shoot was still going.

They have similar shoots in Wyo. and Nev. but nothing in the works for Colorado shoots. Insurance and the ever present EPA crap maintains the silence on the plains.

If you have a chance to go to one out of state, do it. You wont be dissapointed.

I already make runs down to Whittington when I can for that reason. I was excited about something more local. Please let me know if any shoots come up.

The Cheyenne Wells MG shoots were organized and promoted by the late Bob McBride. Since his passing - I believe in 2010 - there haven't been any shoots. I attended a few of them with my Barrett M95 and they were a blast, shooting at dynamite, RC airplane, cans of gasoline, etc.

RIP Bob McBride.

The best CO source now for MG info, sales, shoots, etc. is Greg Satre at Denver Bullets.

I also heard that the property where the Cheyenne Wells shoot happened now has at least one new oil well on it, so that killed any chance of another shoot at that location. Seems like someone at Denver Bullets told me that.

This is one of my videos from that 2007 shoot, that's my grandson in the orange sweatshirt on the twin Browning .30's at Denver Bullet's location.

Just got back from a big shoot down in AZ. We should all get together and pool resources and head down next year. They do them twice a year but I can only afford to hit the one in Oct.

That was actually after the official "mad minute". I failed to get my camera turned on for it, really chapped my ass. Thought I was filming it but nooooo..... It was even more awesome. Every gun on the line firing tracers, including the minigun and cannons.
