Pic's posted!
I just spent the last 1 1/2 hours giving a Chicom Type 56 SKS a detail cleaning and man, it needed it. This is a /906\, SN in the 10006XX range, D sight, pinned barrel and, ALL Matching and complete except for the sling. It was not a safe queen but despite the usual surface wear it is in great shape. While cleaning it I even found some small deposits of what had to be the original cosmoline down in some of the crevasses in the magazine and areas of the stock. At some point someone put a coat of varnish or shellac on the stock but that's OK, just protecting the wood. I'll find a sling at a gun show at some point. I saw one at Cheaper Than Dirt for $7.95 but with shipping at $9.95, I can wait for it. Now, I need to take her out and shoot it, get it dirty so I can clean it again!

You've been around a while..... You should know how this works....
What you just did is the equivalent of trying to explain how amazing a hot chick's boobs are....
Pictures, man.... Pictures.
Sent from my teepee using smoke signals.

Like big bags of sand.

I'm like you and my guns are made for shooting and I dont have many safe queens so to us this is not a huge deal. To a true purest this is a big no no, they would rather have it worn then to have it recoated.
No big deal just thought I would throw it out there for someone reading who might not know this.

Just took my Russian SKS out the other day and ran a few boxes out of it. There is just something about the SKS. To bad there so expensive now, the one I have my dad paid 65$ for back in the day.

Not the chest rig, I have one too. I meant the shoulder sling. One will show up.
As for pic's, I will post some tonight when I get home. The camera was not charged up last night.

Yep, Some guys have to have it original and that is fine with me, I have had a few original ChiCom and a couple of Russkie SKS's. I don't collect as a Collector will but in the end, the SKS is like a 10-22, everyone has or has had one or two of them. The one I had before this one was a pretty nice example but non-matching, I traded it for this Remington Eddystone dated 1918 with original bayonet. I'll probably keep this one for a while, at least through the summer anyway.
Are you looking for an original sling? I bought a lot of 12 honest surplus slings off eBay a month or so back for $26 shipped. You might want to check there.
