My takeaway from watching the whole video is that black folk don't oppose gun rights, they just believe a LOT of lies about whites, white gun owners and the NRA and that there's a strong tendency toward mindless groupthink.

At any rate, the outreach by folk like Colion Noir is clearly desperately needed.

This. There are actually a few good comments in the video but only a few. The one that made me say WTF the most was when a women said Martin Luther King was denied a pistol permit, she inferred it was the NRA that denied him.

That video linked in post #1 is basically a rorschach splatter: if you watch the entire video, there's something for everyone, regardless of whether you are for gun control, against the NRA, for the NRA, pro-gun, anti-gun, for the constitution, etc.

If anything, I'd comment that the producer failed at creating a cohesive message of any kind whatsoever.

That buys into the same lie these black folk are repeating.

The NAACP is a racist organization run by racists in order to promote racism. That's what these useful idiots think the NRA is but there's nothing even remotely related to race or racism in the NRA.

From: http://www.policymic.com/articles/23929/10-surprising-facts-about-the-nra-that-you-never-hear

3. The NRA has a history of supporting the Civil Rights Movement.
While African Americans were being terrorized by the Ku Klux Klan, where the Klan were sometimes aided by local law enforcement, the NRA setup charters to help train local African American communities to be able protect themselves. The most prominent case being in 1960 in Monroe, N.C. where the local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People head Robert Williams also chartered an NRA Rifle Club that successully defended an assault on one of their leader's homes by the KKK without casualties.

The point of this video seems to really be escaping you all. It's meant to illustrate how ludicrous and uninformed a lot of Black people are on the topic of the NRA. This follows their motif of showcasing stereotypes in the Black community, as is showcased by the rest of the Black Folk Don't series.

It's a silent look at what effects the media and engineered culture can have.

I think most of us understand that this video (and the entire series) are meant to be a jumping off point for black folk to discuss and debate their own prejudices ... but most of us have been commenting on the anti NRA prejudices and the politics and thought (or lack thereof) behind them on display ... I don't think anyone here has been critical of the makers of the video.

MOD EDIT

I think this right here is a perfect illustration of why racial tension is the powder keg it is now.

It's as asinine to suggest that white people are solely responsible for all the ills of black Americans, as it is to pretend that racism doesn't exist or there isn't an element of white favoritism. Neither black nor white Americans in 2014 can completely blame the other, but both sides refuse to accept any responsibility. The black kids playing the knockout game, shooting each other over gang beefs, and committing felonies made a conscious decision to do all of those things and have to pay their penance for them. There wasn't some mystical white man forcing them at gun point to drop out of high school and do drugs.

But we're kidding ourselves if we sit here and ignore social programs and doctrines that crippled funding in the public school systems in Black neighborhoods, encouraged unemployment amongst single mothers, and provided media initiatives that glorified destitute models of living. Black folks today weren't slaves or civil rights contributors, they shouldn't expect to be paid retribution as such. What should be expected however, is a joint initiative among Americans as a whole to stop encouraging a culture of loose sex, drugs & alcohol, lack of education, and entitlement. We're here now regardless, so instead of each 'side', so to speak, trying to wash their hands of any responsibility or obligation, we should be coming together to address the loss of liberty and prosperity amongst the middle class.

Unfortunately, until both black and white racists alike stop blaming each other for crippling the nation, Barry, the UN, and all of the rest of the rogue's gallery are going to keep picking apart any aspect of free living that they can. Race-baiting is the perfect red flag for the bull that is American social tension.

I'm going to address the 900 lb. elephant in this thread before it goes any further.

Reading through this thread and the comments has concerned me greatly. I have yet to watch the linked video and probably won't. It sounds like it's having the desired effect it's creators intended: to perpetuate racial hatred from all sides. More us versus them, black versus white crap.

Folks, not only are we a like-minded firearms community, or even just a CO firearms community, but we here at the CO-AR15 forums have always been a special niche. We are an extended family who can look beyond the differences of our racial, religious, cultural, etc. backgrounds to become one people. We embrace this diversity to make ourselves stronger as a whole and better as individuals. I, for one, am grateful for this diversity amongst our membership. We don't see the differences but draw on the strengths of our commonalities. I wish this was a representation of how the rest of society thought and acted too; sadly, it isn't. Some of what I'm reading here, whether stated implicitly or inferred through generality disturbs me. WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS!

If you look back several posts you'll see a post has been deleted and the member, a new member, has been banned. I can't make this any more clear: WE WILL NOT ACCEPT OR ALLOW RACISM OF ANY SORT ON THIS SITE! Anyone posting anything even perceived as racist (let's face it, this thread is full of that) will receive one warning to stop that behavior - just one. How you choose to respond to that warning will determine your continued status as a member of this site. Offensive/defensive comments back to the site staff, modifying your profile with a snarky comment, continued racist public comments, etc. will result in an immediate and permanent ban from the site; no exceptions, no appeals, and no mercy.

Proceed accordingly.

The staff was concerned about him since he signed up. While I didn't expect him to cut his own throat so quickly, to say it was completely unexpected would not be accurate.

We received one "reported post" flag for his post. Frankly, I think anyone reading it should have reported it, not just one person.

As a team we jumped to fix this. He was given a chance but chose to modify his profile with a snarky comment that we couldn't overlook & severed his association with this site. We won't have other members of this site or others outside of this community thinking we tolerate such behavior and attitudes.

So, back on topic, what exactly, is racist about the NRA? There seemed to be a whole lot of surmising about the racist motives of the NRA, but nothing other than it's an organization that seeks to keep white folks armed to protect them from black folk. Is that the gist of the problem?

One of the great ironies of our time. The organizations that attempt to help minorities the most are the organizations the minorities see most often as the enemy. And the truly racist organizations and those that work hard to keep minorities "down" are hailed as heroes by those minorities.

Not sure how/why you came to this conclusion. Nowhere have I said anything about people from Florida. I chose not to use the trolls name. The fact he was from FL has nothing to do with you or any other people from FL.

I still don't understand why people believe anything mainstream media - group mentality goes both ways. I wouldn't believe that those people spoke for all (if any) "black people" any more then I believe stormfront speaks for all "white people" or the nra speaks for all "gun owners" lol. But if you see it on the tv or internet, or hear it on the radio, then it must be true.........

As was mentioned before, it's the job of mainstream media (and really the engineers of culture as a whole) to aggregate and marginalize any eminent sect or group of people. Think of how CNN and Huff Post portray Black people: middle-class, artsy liberals who are Obama supporters like the ones in the video. This is presumably so that they can drive white guilt liberals and 'new age' types into thinking they've reached a new frontier of progressive prosperity with like-minded Black people.
Meanwhile, the other side of that coin is the pseudo-Conservative hacks who only play up the section 8 Black folks from places like Mississippi and Chicago. They portray an image wherein all Black people under the age of 40 are Knockout game-playing, drug-addicted high school dropouts. All Black people over 40 are apologists and Jesse Jackson race baiters.

The NRA is now a victim of the same type of treatment. On the one hand, there's an agenda to present NRA members as these hill-dwelling, inbred rednecks who are all living in tents at some militia training facility. NRA members are all preparing to riot against the gov't and are also racist baby killers.
The other more "high brow" illustration is to accuse the NRA of being some multi-trillion dollar conglomerate that's controlling the Senate through corruption. Really, 90% of Americans want an all-out ban on guns, but the NRA's so powerful that it's been buying up votes to prevent justice for the American people.

The thing to remember is that literally EVERYTHING is written with a bias. It's a matter of being pragmatic and analytical so that you can create a sort of venn diagram to find the common denominators.

In addition to the video ZERO THEORY just posted, the real problem is that Progressivism/Marxism/Collectivism/Modern Liberalism all need one thing to grow and maintain political power; an underclass.

LBJ set up Black Americans to be this underclass with his "War on Poverty" lie.

“I’ll have those [n-word]s voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” – Lyndon B. Johnson, 1964

Racialist grievance in the black community MUST be maintained at all costs because it (and its corollary; white guilt) is just too powerful a tool for use by the White Leftist Intelligentsia to use against their enemies. The original video posted here illustrates just how that works against one of their enemies; the NRA.

The reason the NRA is the enemy of the left is because when it comes down to it, gun ownership is an aspect of self reliance. ALL must bow to the God of State. ALL must become totally dependent upon the God of State for EVERY aspect of their sustenance, safety and self.

Hence LBJ further promoting the Welfare state, the government collaborating with companies like Monsanto to shut down privately-owned agriculture outposts, CA kicking people off of privately-owned land if they use solar or wind power, and obviously disarming the populace.

Once you can no longer feed yourself, utilize natural energy, defend yourself, or choose what you do with your body in times of illness, that's it. You have to rely on their institutions to "protect" you, say the things that they allow you to, and live the way they chose.

If history has taught us anything, it's that humanity operates in cycles. We are coming full circle to another age of aristocracy with us plebs being used as cannon fodder and fuel for the economy.

I am listening to this right now and I am going to take a differing take from this (surprise I know). I think the lesson here is that the NRA might have a valid problem with perception and they need to work on that. Does not matter right or wrong, we are talking about perception and perception matters.

And the NRA gives them all the clown ammo that anti gun media needs. Wayne is many times a foot in mouth disaster. I vote for Colin Noir for the head of the NRA.

This is nothing more then propaganda to discredit the NRA because of Obama and the leftist media. This is the same propaganda that would suggest that a person who hated Obama was a racist. I hate Obama because he is an anti-American socialist, which is the same I feel about any person regardless of race who represents the same things as this man. If a black American in politics defends liberty and my constitutional rights as an individual, I would gladly throw in my support.

The most unfortunate thing in this country is that black Americans are unwilling to bury the hatchet. They perpetuate their circumstance generation after generation because of this.
