View Full Version : Anyone use a Lifeproof cell phone case
I have seen many mixed reviews. I'm looking to maybe get one for the water proof aspect of the case.

Yep. They come with a decent company warranty. I did the waterproof test on mine and I've gotten it wet several times. I don't have to worry about my kid getting it dirty or wet... The case is really great at keeping dust, dirt, and water out. I've accidentally dropped it a few times on pavement or concrete from about 3-4 ft and it survived with no damage, but I certainly would do it on purpose.
Only downside is that it is not as "drop resistant" as something like an otter box. Flip side, it is half the size and barely adds any weight to your phone.
I've had mine for about 7 months now on an iPhone 5 with no complaints. Biggest plus is the minimal size and waterproofing.

got 2 of them. I phone 4 and 5. They are great. I never tried to "total immersion"" test, but I use mine with the handle bar mount on my motorcycle and i have been in a couple of downpour where it did protect the phone with no concern what so ever.
I'm looking at this one

Just make sure you're buying it from a reputable dealer. One of my sons bought one off eBay that he found out was "factory refurbished" after he received it, and the screen protector separated from the rest of the case. I've known several people that have used them and swear by them.

My wife had one on her iPhone 4s. The back glass broke while in the case, then the front a few weeks later. When both switched to Galaxy S4s, the Lifeproof wasn't up for consideration.
I had one and while I had no issues with it protecting the phone..there are a few issues with it.
The charging port ONLY fits the size of the apple lightning connector, none of the aftermarket charging cables I had worked with it.
Also the screen would become do weird things while in the case. Not sure if it was heat build up but the touch screen would not work.. become non-responsive if that makes sense. I used it for a few weeks, now it's in a drawer...
Had one on 4s, now have one on 5. Works nicely.
My buddy forgot he had his phone in his pocket and went surfing with it and it was fine. Take that as you will.

I'm a swim coach and use it to do underwater filming of swimmers techniques. I do not worry about my phone at all. Also a carpenter and trust it to protect the phone on a daily basis from sawdust, bumps, and other jobsite dangers.
