View Full Version : 2014 Noveske Area 2 Multi-Gun Championship
The match is scheduled for the last weekend in August for 2014. Set-up is Wednesday the 27th, Staff shoots the 28th, Competitors shoot 29th-31st.
If you need to fulfill a CRC workbond and or want some cash for your shooting fund, I will be paying locals for set-up help. I also need ROs and other staff to work the match. Kicking it up a notch this year and I have a lot of projects for signs and walls and such that need to be re-built and or made, so if you belong to CRC and want to help me out while fulfilling your workbond, here is your chance. Some of the stuff requires an "artists" touch and can be done without ever going to the range and I will provide all supplies.
ROs shoot for free and get free food plus gas money. If you RO, but don't want to shoot, the $ goes up by $150. While I need 10 USPSA certified ROs to be CROs, each stage needs a scorekeeper as well, so certification is not required. If you are interested in shooting 3Gun, but are not geared up, this is a great chance to see what it is all about. You will be able to attend the Pro-Clinics as a shooter, but I will have a Pro-Clinic for staff only as well.
To apply to shoot: http://www.carbonarms.us/Match-Entries/
If you want to work/help in any other way, drop me a note either by e-mail or PM.
I'm surprised to see this given last years laws. Good to see.
^Me too. The sponsors did not want me to let it die and no-one in surrounding states has all the right parts to make it work. We had a grand total of 2 people (of all the past match entrants) say they would not come if it was in CO versus another state. We had about 40% say they would not go if it was moved to WY, KS or NM. Frankly, the recalls helped keep it here. I got 10 entrants in the first 10 minutes the entry link was live, only 1 from Colorado...
For those of you who want to get into 3Gun, we do draw top competitors and the stages/shooting challenges are at least equal with the best stages at the "majors", so don't miss out.
Looks like it's time to join CRC, and schedule some vacation, after vacation.

I will be a score keeper and not shoot but this would be a great opportunity for me to learn the new sport as I have been wanting to get into this for a long time, I will shoot you a PM. I am a member at CRC and have been for a number of years.
Tagging this thread. The timing didn't work out for me last year so I'm going to do my best to make it to this one. Thanks for keeping it alive, Mark!

I have shot the first two Noveske matches (and worked the first one) and Mark puts on an incredible match. The stages are fantastic. If you are even remotely thinking about shooting 3-Gun, you owe it to yourself to shoot this match. You won't be disappointed.

This is a terrific match and is equally good for beginners and for hard chargers. This match is on my must shoot list for 2014, so plan on seeing me there shooting in HM Irons.

Definitely a great match for beginners who've already shot one or two rounds of 3gun. In my late-signup squad last year, everyone had a great time and were all supporting each other. [ETA: Also, the RO's were all awesome and fun to shoot with]
I'm still debating whether to shoot tactical or HM-Limited.
Mark, last year Freedom Munitions had apparently great deals on supplying ammo for those having trouble sourcing any. Do they plan to repeat the sales of buy & range-pickup of the ammo? Or better yet, any rough-ballpark idea of Rifle round-count? (100,150,200? I'll be coming from out of state, so I'll probably have ammo delivered to a friend's house). Thanks for any info you can give at this early time!
Man I would love to shoot this match again, but I don't think I'm going to be able to swing it this year since it falls right at the beginning of the high school football season.
Freedom ammo will be available same way as last year. Round count is about 420 total, about 150 each for rifle and pistol, 10 each slugs and buck and 100 birdshot.
Bullpup, sign up the whole team. :)
This is awesome!!!! I didn't think it was going to happen this year. Mark puts together some awesome stages.... Don't miss it!

2 major matches in August is a hell of a tough order for me, both in terms of vacation time and preparation. It's a hell of a good match -- I shot it last year and I'd love to shoot it again.

Thanks for the replies so far. I have the PMs some of you sent and I will get them organized and responded to next week.
Finally got my USPSA number and signed up. I'm looking forward to the match.

Also just signed up. Don't be dumb like me and forget to follow instructions! From the website:
You MUST register with your USPSA number AND the e-mail address that you use for your USPSA login. PLEASE enter these in the notes section.
I have ways of finding your USPSA#, but yes, it does help to provide it in the Notes. If you skip the e-mail part, you might not get the links sent for self squadding.
I have a few staff (need prop builders, set-up and match staff) signed up, need plenty more. :) Using Practiscore, so it should go pretty easy. Will have a CRO and 1 or 2 assistants per stage.
Have a few of the stages completed. Some staff on board and a gaggle of competitors. If you have not signed up, you should :)

Daniel Mizicko and I had an awesome time at the Pikes Peak Shotgun Challenge and registered for this match as soon as we got home! Thanks for all your hard work and awesome caddies Mark!
Wes Powell
Thanks Wes!
Have just one stage left to design...if you have a stairmaster, you might want to practice...
Stages are done! Total round count with 2 per paper is 372 rounds. Minimums are 58R, 57P, 84SG with optionals adding about 58R, 69P and 26SG.
9 buck @ about 30 yards, 9 slugs required @ about 5 to 25 yards, (4 slugs optional @ 60 yards), all other SG is birdshot and nothing special needed. Max distance on rifle is about 200 yards, minimum target size is 4MOA. There will be moving targets for all three firearm types. We will use the car for rifle and yes, the tire stack will be on the longer rifle stage. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif If you liked the choice of both firearms and targets to engage with which like stages 6 and 7 last year, there are 3 like that this year.
Plans for 2015 will be assessed after the 2014 match.
Stages are approved! :) Still have plenty of room in the match...lets have a good showing of the local talent. http://www.carbonarms.us/Match-Entries/Noveske-Multi-Gun-Championship.html
Stage list and round counts.
1- Only Standards, 3Guns, (15R, 20P, 9 birdshot)
2 - Runnin' Around 2, 3Guns (20R, 20P, 9 birdshot, 6 optional pistol or birdshot)

5 - Shot Up and Get Down, 3Guns (15R, 16P, 10 birdshot)
6 - Right Turn Clyde, 3Guns, (1R, 1P, 1 birdshot, 18 optional rifle, pistol, birdshot)

8 - Just A Swingin', 3Guns (14R, 13P, 15 birdshot)
9 - Split Decision, 2 Guns (4R, 8P 12 optional rifle or pistol OR 4 Slug, 4 birdshot, 16 pistol)

Great match for sure, got to shoot in the first (2) events but can't make this one cuz it's been moved to Labor Day weekend. Good luck to all and thanks for keeping this match alive!
I am removing the Friday/Saturday shooting option at this time. There will be some paid entry slots available to shoot all day on Friday, but otherwise, all paid entrants will shoot on Saturday and Sunday. Staff shoots Friday, set-up is on Thursday.
Stages can be viewed here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/u5z325owypbsael/NA2MGStagesFinal.pdf)
A little intel on the stages...
1- Only Standards, 3Guns, self explanatory on the WSB
2 - Runnin' Around 2, 3Guns (20R, 20P, 9 birdshot, 6 optional pistol or birdshot). Rifle paper about 35 yards, pistol about 10 to 12, plate rack at about 10 yards.
3 - Lightning Rod, Pistol, (24P). Yep those two steels are out there about 25 yards. The hard cover on the targets will reward precision.
4 - Diamond Dealer, PS (4P, 4 birdshot, 20 optional pistol or birdshot). The middle clay can most certainly be lined up with either KO plate for the swingers and there will be some opportunity for doubles on the popper array as well. Star and poppers about 10 to 12 yards, round steels about 15 yards.
5 - Shot Up and Get Down, 3Guns (15R, 16P, 10 birdshot). The kickers will be used with mini black clays and are thrown about 25 feet up. Clayoreos are just 2 clays with sand in between that explode when hit with rifle giving better feedback to the shooter. Once you shoot them, you won't like shooting regular clays, but we feel it indicates so much better for the shooters.
6 - Right Turn Clyde, 3Guns, (1R, 1P, 1 birdshot, 18 optional rifle, pistol, birdshot). All the paper will be visible from Area A and the start of Area B. The plate rack will be about 9 yards from the closest part of Area B.
7 - Buck up and Run, Shotgun, (9 buckshot, 9 slugs, 12 birdshot). The buckshot plates will be about 25 yards, the windmill about 8 yards, from the closest point in Area A. One slug round on paper is neutralized. Far slug target is about 30 yards.
8 - Just A Swingin', 3Guns (14R, 13P, 15 birdshot). The Kickers will be using the mini clays, which go up about 25 feet or so. Clayoreos with rifle at about 35 yards, the paper array at about 45 yards. Yes, all three guns have swinging tagets on this one. The far pistol paper is about 20 yards. The location of the poppers and kickers in the bay may be swapped with the plate swinger array.
9 - Split Decision, 2 Guns (4R, 8P 12 optional rifle or pistol OR 4 Slug, 4 birdshot, 16 pistol). 90 yards with rifle or 60 yards with slugs on 18x24 steel.
10 - Poke and a Sixpack, rifle (20R). Tires are the dreaded 35" light truck tires, about 190 yards to 10" steel, about 170 yards to the 10" steel from the barricade.
Plates that are birdshot required will be the hinged square plates. We do not have a shot size requirement, but there is not a single birdshot target in the match that will require any special loads...or...you would be wasting money on high brass loads. All of the birdshot required or optional arrays have been, or will be shot with a Win AA Low recoil from a LM choke. The buckshot targets on Stage 8 are falling plates and 00 buckshot is not required, but you DO have to use buckshot. A low recoil load is plenty for them.
While there may be some arrays you have not seen before, there is enough information in the WSBs and above to give you the information you need to be fully prepared. I don't like tricks or to have our competitors wish they had better information before showing up at the match. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer as best I can.
Hey Mark.
Any news on squadding up? It seems like match day is coming up pretty quick all of a sudden.
Also, the stages look great. I'm really looking forward to it.
Self squadding has been open on the USPSA website for a while now.

Guns and prizes for the prize table are coming in, with the verbals, we have enough stage staff as well.
We picked up 4 more guns yesterday...Bushmaster committed 2 rifles yesterday and Kel-Tec is sending 2 KSGs.

Hello, I'm a new to the forum and to the 3 gun world , I have been slowly been building my kit to get into these types of events but have no idea about the lingo or jargon you are using like CRO'S , CRC, ROS ? But am very interested in shooting this as my first event .I'm a Denver native and don't belong to any gun clubs currently .Im very interested in shooting this event and getting into the 3 gun world, and wondering what would be the best way to start the ball rolling on getting registered for this event? .... I know I'm running a little late joke there is still time ?
Match entry is here: http://www.carbonarms.us/Match-Entries/Noveske-Multi-Gun-Championship.html
I'd sign up, then try your best to get to Weld 4th Saturday and CRC 1st Saturday for some intro, safety stuff etc. While 3Gun is not easy, there are plenty of beginners who have done it. The Noveske match has nothing really hard, the good guys will just do it faster.
CRC is Colorado Rifle Clube. CRO/RO are range officers who run the stages.

We'd like to thank ThunderBeast (http://thunderbeastarms.com/)for their GOLD level sponsorship of our match. TBAC products are made by and for shooters...we like! TBAC is a company that has advanced suppressor technology and makes some of the very best suppressors around.
The company promotes, sponsors and runs a lot of matches and we are honored that they would choose to sponsor our match!
Our next GOLD level sponsor is Montana Gold (https://montanagoldbullet.com/). Another great company with great people. MG bullets are the go to bullet for a lot of competitive shooters. They sure look good in nickle cases. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png Thanks!
Our third and final GOLD sponsor is Burris Optics (http://www.burrisoptics.com/burrisusa.html). It has been great to see this Colorado based company continue to develop optics for the tactical and competition shooters as well as hunters. Offering one of the deepest selection of optics for almost every imaginable use, they have also become one of the biggest supporters of the shooting sports across the country. If you are looking for a new 3Gun optic, the XTRII 1-5 is about as good as they get, feature rich at a working mans price point.
Third giveaway for the correct answer about stages in the match is up: https://www.facebook...296433130517575 (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Noveske-Area2-MultiGun-Championship/296433130517575)
Berger (http://www.bergerbullets.com/) makes some amazing bullets for pretty much anything you want to do with a rifle. We are very pleased to welcome Berger as a stage sponsor for the match this year.
Freedom Munitions (http://www.freedommunitions.com/#&panel1-2) is back as a stage sponsor. Selling quality ammo customer direct so we can shoot more for less.
Brownells (http://www.brownells.com/)is a stage sponsor again this year as well.

Holly Monkey! The match is only 5 weeks away and Mark is still pulling in sponsors. Prize table is looking pretty good. If you can chew gum and shoot a gun at the same time, you should win some to make your entry and time worth while. My 15yr old daughter has almost no competitive shooting experience. She's done a little steel challenge and a couple of 3gun matches. She'll be there rockin my back up gear and having a great time. Sign up! You won't regret it.
We got sponsorships (guns) from SIG, Kel-Tec and Bushmaster in just the last week!
Man I'm so excited about this match I can't even see straight! It's going to be a great time!
Huge thanks to Bushmaster (http://www.bushmaster.com/index.asp) for being a stage sponsor this year. There will be 2 Bushmaster AR-15s on the prize tables!
We welcome back Shooters Source (http://www.theshooterssource.com/index.php) as a stage sponsor for the 2014 match.
Electronic Shooters Protection (http://espamerica.com/) is a stage sponsor this year. Check out their excellent solutions to help you keep your hearing!
SIG SAUER (http://www.sigsauer.com/) returns as a sponsor for the 2014 match. I especially like their C3 1911...check them out.

Thanks for all your hard work Mark! Can't wait to shoot this!
We have some pretty cool additions for this year...free lunch, some stage setters on the longer stages...all with a great staff and cool stages. :)
Very pleased to welcome Kel-Tec (http://www.keltecweapons.com/) as a stage sponsor. They have sent us two KSGs...awesome! We hear the team is loving the new Carbon Arms loading systems they just switched to.
There are still some slots open for the match, however, I doubt we will have the ability to take walk-ins on match day, so if you want to shoot the biggest and best MG in the state, better get signed up soon.
Big match stages with little match price. See how you stack up, and meet some of the top shooters in the game. Free lunch both days you shoot, and a prize table that can't be beat by any other match in the state.
Very happy to have our friends from Nordic Components (http://nordiccomp.com/retail/) back as a stage sponsor. Great company with great people and a huge promoter of the shooting sports.
We welcome STAG Arms (https://www.stagarms.com/) back as a stage sponsor for 2014. We have had a STAG on the prize table every year...THANKS!
Getting prizes has been a bit tough this year, but we do have a better table than last year!
There will be a prize table for each division, and right now it is looking like Open, Tactical and Limited.
Janna Reeves is working hard on a 4th prize table for the Ladies Tactical Division. The women in Tactical will be scored in their own division with their own prize table. First time this has ever been done. We know she has some great sponsors coming through for this!
NSSF (http://www.nssf.org/), our FOOD sponsor for 2014 who has graciously provided your lunches (awesome food BTW). Defenders and Promoters of the shooting sports industry, we greatly appreciate their support of the match. Check out their webpage and see what they are all about.
Carbon Arms (http://www.carbonarms.us/) is a stage sponsor for 2014.
Fifth stage contest question is up: https://www.facebook...296433130517575 (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Noveske-Area2-MultiGun-Championship/296433130517575)
You are all going to absolutely flip over the Champion and Category trophies! Brought to you courtesy of Dynamic Resistance!
The opportunity for category recognition will cease on August 1 so we can get these done in a timely manner, so if you are in a category and were planning on shooting the match, you have 1 week left!
We have about 20 or so slots left in the match, plus a handful of Friday only slots if needed.
Warne (http://warnescopemounts.com/)is again a sponsor of the 2014 Noveske match. I absolutely love their products. One of those companies who support the shooting sports extensively, have great products and great people.
The 2014 Noveske match is pleased to welcome DangerLee Industries LLC (http://dangerleeindustriesllc.com/) as a sponsor. A new company started by a Colorado shooter. Very excited to see some of their future offerings. Tim will be helping out at the match as well. Thanks Tim!
It seems a lot of people are worried about, and some have even been practicing for, stage 1. I know it is a bit on the challenging side, however, I think you will find your stage score to be about in line with the scores you get on other stages at major matches. On the bright side, everyone will have the same time. :)
Two elements are imperative to have down.
1. The start position is port arms for the long guns...the lowest part of the buttstock must be at or below belt level and the muzzle must be above the shoulders. If you have the rifle and shotgun in line with the eye on the muzzle looking directly at your first target, you will save some time on the mount and first shot.
2. You have to KNOW what 6 seconds feels like in your cadence. Finishing the rifle or shotgun strings with one or two seconds left, but having a miss, that will hurt really bad!
A scoring note. An overtime shot is one that is recorded on the timer as 6.31 or more. 6.30 receives no penalty in accordance with USPSA rules.
I'll have one more question posted on the match facebook page on July 31, then there will be three more in August that the prior winners will also be eligible for.
Based on entries coming in, I am pretty sure the match will sell out, so if you have not signed up but plan to, I would not delay!
We have a bunch of prize contributors to the match. They include Bar-Sto Precision, CED, Century Int'l Arms, Decot, Grafs & Sons, Grams, Hogue, LaserLyte, Otis, Safariland, Shilen, Sierra Bullets, Tifosi Optics, Zero Bullets.
Still have a bunch more coming in. :)
Ever heard of Coronado Arms (http://www.coronadoarms.com/)? Well you should have. They make some pretty cool parts and complete AR-15s. We are happy to welcome them to the 2014 match as sponsors. They will be at the match showing off their cool gear!
There will be another stage question with a prize up in a few minutes on the facebook page for the match.
There are only about 10 slots left in the match, so if you are planning on shooting it, you probably better decide within the week. The prize table is really coming together. And, for you ladies, even if you have never shot, this is a match you really should shoot...Ladies Tactical Division is a relatively new concept in 3Gun and the Novekse match is one of only a few to offer it. Janna Reeves is working her magic for the Ladies only prize table...don't wish you had...DO!
Skill set tune up match at CRC on Saturday August 2 (if the mud goes away).
Special Categories have been turned off on the match entries so that we can get the trophy orders finalized.
Stage 5 "prop"...

We would like to welcome Hornady (http://www.hornady.com/)back as a GOLD sponsor for the 2014 match. Be assured, Hornady is making bullets, ammo and components as fast as they can. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png
We have 8 slots left for the match as of today.
Prizes are rolling in, Dawn is getting everything lined up to make you all some great food, Steve is getting the Nooks ready to score the match, and the match is almost full. I plan to send out the competitor briefing on August 10th. I don't do an in person talk, since half the people don't show up and half of those that do show up don't listen...that is okay, but make sure you read the information that comes on the 10th! I think it will answer the vast majority of questions.
We just had another excellent company sign on as a sponsor. Chamber View (http://chamber-view.com/) sent me a 3Gun pack for evaluation last week, and I must say I am very impressed with the product. It has everything 3Gunners want in a chamber flag! Check them out.
Just got the confirmation on the 4 guns I mentioned yesterday!

Hey LADY 3 GUNNERS (ok, guys too!) - come shoot in Colorado with me and my team at the Noveske Area 2 Multi Gun Match!! Info here:http://noveskemultigun.weebly.com/
Ladies, match director Mark P. and I have been working together to put together a Women's division for this match! It will join the other regular divisions to give the ladies our OWN division and our OWN prize table! With sponsors like Noveske Rifleworks (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Noveske-Rifleworks/181862575167497), Geissele Automatics, LLC (https://www.facebook.com/geisseleautomatics), Taran Tactical Innovations (https://www.facebook.com/TaranTactical), Brownells, Inc. (https://www.facebook.com/BrownellsInc), and Freedom Munitions (Official) (https://www.facebook.com/FreedomStartsHere), you know it's gonna be good! We had a women's only division at another match earlier this year and it was a huge success, with women winning guns, optics, triggers, handguards...and having a blast shooting together! Don't feel left out guys, this match is for you too. All the usual divisions and prize tables will be there with a fantastic list of sponsors. Come shoot with us - and email me at Janna@noveske.com if you have specific questions about the match
The competitor briefing was just sent out to all registered competitors using the USPSA self squadding system to the email you provided.
Please read the competitor briefing! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Mark, I am planning to come out to spectate. Any advice on best day, etc. ?
Saturday will give you more time to see several shooters shoot each stage. On Sunday, there are going to be just 3 hours of shooting, but we will do awards after that.
Make sure to bring eye and ear protection and you need to check in at Stats, the little brown shed south of berms 5 and 6.

Thanks for the info.
No worries.
Match is full. For CO residents, we could slip in a few to shoot on Friday. If you have been out of town, or hibernating for 6 months, or just happened to inherit a 3Gun set-up, drop me a line if you want to try to sign up for a Friday slot.
121 total entries.
75 in Tactical, 18 in Limited, 16 in Open and 12 in Tactical Lady.
Prizes include 15 guns & uppers, 20 awards, $70K+ of value. Dawn will serve over 300 meals.
On the 10 stages, over 43K rounds will be fired at 119 paper targets, 74 steel targets and 38 clay targets.
We also hope to raise $2K for the Predators baseball team, part of that will be tips, and part of that will be the raffle tickets for the Kel-Tec KSG shotgun.
Got some prop building done and some testing out of some new targets on Saturday. Sorted some banners and shooters bags today. This time next week, I hope you will all be safely on the way home with big smiles on your faces.
If you registered for the match and have not received the competitors briefing, please let me know ASAP. It contains the stuff you need to know, shooting matrix, schedule, etc. I would say that 11 of the last 11 questions I have been asked have been covered in the stage briefing, or on the match Facebook page. So please, make sure you have read the competitors briefing at a minimum. Also there is a lot of good information on the Noveske Area2 Multigun Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Noveske-Area2-MultiGun-Championship/296433130517575). The stages have lots of choices and there are some target presentations you won't get at other matches. They still use fundamentals, no circus tricks, but I want the shooters to have a good idea what they are going to see before they get to the match. The diagrams for the stages are to scale and we get them as close to the diagram as possible, probably the closest of any major match.
I have to testify in court on Tuesday and I will be at the range Wednesday on, so messages here and emails might not get answered promptly. Best bet is to send me a text with enough info to call you back or answer your question.
Safe travels, and we all look forward to seeing you this weekend!
Before I slip into hibernation for a few days, I wanted to give some thanks to our Sponsors:
Noveske was again our title sponsor and the NST has been very supportive of our match with Pro Clinics, helping with set-up and shooting well to boot.
Our Gold Sponsors for 2014 were Burris Optics, Hornady, Machine Gun Tours, Montana Gold, Thunderbeast, and NSSF..
Our Stage sponsors were Berger Bullets, Brownells, Bushmaster, Carbon Arms, Chamber View, Electronic Shooters Protection, Freedom Munitions, Kel-Tec, MagPul, Nordic Components, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Stag Arms and Warne.
Our Prize Contributors were Bar-Sto Precision, CED, Century International Arms, Coronado Arms, DangerLee Industries, Decot Hy-Wad, Grafs & Sons, Grams, Hogue, LaserLyte, Leupold, Otis, POF, Redding, Safariland, Samson, Shooters Source, Sierra, Starline, Thompson Center, Tifois, Troy, Zero Bullets, Xtreme Bullets.
Sponsors for the Ladies Division Table included Novekse, Stoeger, Geissele, Brownells, Taran Tactical Innovations and Carbon Arms.
Combined, there were 20 guns and AR-15 uppers on the prize tables and about $70K in total prize value.
I'd also like to thank my entire staff for their hard work and dedication to the match.
The Arvada Predators Baseball Team also thanks all of the competitors for their generosity. You shooters made quite an impression on them, most of whom had never shot a gun. Having 4 of the best shooters in the world for a safety introduction and firing your first shots is sure to leave a good and lasting impression. They raised just over $2K which will help them pay for their Tournaments in 2015.
Congratulations to all of the competitors who completed the match!

For those of you who were not able to join us, I put up some videos of some of our shooters on the Facebook Page: https://www.facebook...296433130517575 (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Noveske-Area2-MultiGun-Championship/296433130517575)
Noveske has informed us that they very much want to be back for the match again in 2015, same weekend, same place, same format.
The stages outlines are done and I will be working on them this winter.
