View Full Version : Florida man searched in Maryland due to his CCW
Not likely the first time, nor the last.
Coming to a state near you.

I would love to see a law suit, with an NRA lawyer assist. Just to apply some pressure to slow the progression of this kind of crap. I would also like to know how they knew about a FL CCW permit.

Jeez. If this was a DWB type of case, the Rev Al, Jesse, and the ACLU would be all over it. Unlawful search of a American citizen's car? Not even an issue these days, apparently.
How does a Maryland cop find out a Florida resident is a CCW holder/gun owner?
How does a Maryland cop find out a Florida resident is a CCW holder/gun owner?
That was my first question as well. Maryland is high on my list of Places to Avoid, along with most of the East Coast north of the Carolinas.

Precisely my question too. How does he find that out in the first place?

Hell, the guy probably offered up that info.
Lots of people around here seem to think thats the way to go..

I presume this ^ as well. I bet he was just trying to be polite and respectful, but was not given the same in return....

Or maybe FL CCW and DMV databases cross reference. CO CCW issuance used to come up on a DL check but they nixed it a couple years ago.
And now (que soft violin music) as we all think back to the myriad of posts that suggest that pd/.mil won't enforce bad laws and will side with the citizenry...sigh.
Kally says, “I don’t know.” Retelling it later she says, “And that’s all I should have said.” Instead, attempting to be helpful, she added, “Maybe in the glove [box]. Maybe in the console. I’m scared of it. I don’t want to have anything to do with it. I might shoot right through my foot.”
We have a mutual agreement not to talk to law enforcement. They are not your friend. Plus I would have never married someone afraid of guns. That is a deal-breaker for me. Even if she has a magic vagina.
But wait, it gets better...
The people over at the "ConservativeTreeHouse" are digging into this story.
From: http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2014/01/16/driving-through-maryland-how-the-lawful-florida-gun-owner-was-targeted-hint-maryland-coordination-and-analysis-center/#more-75456
Maryland State has a network of technical security databases which access the databases of all other states who comply and coordinate with them. For states who do not willfully comply, or those who are not set up to align technically, Maryland mines data from various LEO systems.
Maryland has a rather innocuous sounding name for the intelligence hub which contains this data, it’s called Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center.
The intelligence analysis hub has access to, and contains, Florida’s CCW list (among other identification systems) and mines the state’s database systems for vehicle plate numbers of the holders. These license plate numbers are then stored in a cross referencing database within the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center.
The database is directly connected to another Maryland technological system – Their ALPR (Automatic License Plate Reader) system is synergized with the MCAC Hub.
