I watched this show once or twice when they first launched it. I always wonder how they got some of the mental cases. Here is one that is a felon, sex offender featured in the show.

He also bragged for the camera about his plans to raid and loot other doomsday preppers' supplies when the end times came. "All your shiny AR's your high powered .308 rifles, your 50,000 rounds of ammo are all going to be ours", Smith warned.

Unfortunately, we have seen this mentality even on this board. I say good riddance!

My wife was just telling me about that episode at lunch today.
She was so pissed at that guy.
This will make her day.

BTW, if your wife is not a prepper, this series may help to change her mind.
She stopped complaining (as much) about my purchases after watching several episodes. I now have to keep an eye on her food storage spending limits.

I hate to be Mr obvious, but we all saw that coming.

I'm waiting for BATFE to come down on poor Shelby with all those (assumed) illegal SBR's on the Axe Men.

You gotta bob and weave and do the Serpentine.

When that fails, blade at 45*.

Sure, plenty of you may claim to be stockpiling for eternity, but most with some common sense realize, sooner or later you will run out of supplies. You can either accept the fact that if things go south, most of us lack the ability to survive 100% on our own for extended periods, or live in denial. I'm a realist. Out of respect for site administrators, that is as far as I'll go with that.

A realist who plan his shtf scenario based on the worst case apocalypse? Real smart!

Most preppers I know plan more toward realistic short term disaster such as Colorado fire and flood, and long term economic collapse such as in Zimbabwe, or Russia post Soviet Union. I know few are more prepared for scenario such as in Sarajevo or Syria.

But you are the most realist of all who prep for the end of the world 2012 style Armageddon... But not for the more realistic short term ones Uh huh.. He are the smart one!

Live by the gun, die by the gun and all that.

You're absolutely correct, it's unlikely that most of us would be able to survive on our own indefinitely but rather than planning on thievery, I'm hoping that most will focus on banding together, pooling labor and making a go at it peacefully. It's a pipe dream but it's the one I'm sticking to.

Fairly ignorant statement....

I'm not a prepper because I can't afford to be, sure I try and do little things here and there to prepare, but with a seven month old, and living paycheck to paycheck, the here and now is more important.

If I had the extra funds, I'd stockpile as much as I could reasonably stock.

I don't see how my statement was ignorant at all. Do you fit the category of stockpiling everything you can, to live out the next 10 years off the grid? Didn't sound like it, and my statement wasn't even directed towards you. Having a mouth to feed, and scraping by due to obamanomics, if things get bad, you'll do what it takes to feed your little one right? No ignorance in what I said then.

I'd like to think everyone would band together, and help each other out, and for some of us, that would be the case. Fact is, we all know there is a huge group in this country who will have their hand out. Heck they are the ultimate cause of a lot of our problems.

Ohh and I think I could out run him. AND his "Armor". Would be pretty easy to hit that target.

Pretty fanatical stereotyping statements you make there. I am a realist, I accept the fact that we could see a real world changing event(s) in our life. I also know that the odds are not that great of it happening either at any given moment. I'm far from some tin foilers, but if you want to lump me in that group, be my guest. It also goes along with that word assume. You know, how you assume I prep for the end of the world 2012 disaster, and never for the short term ones. That's fine. I guess you haven't paid much attention in the last year, but that's ok. Maybe I am prepared for floods, and fires, maybe I'm not. That may be for me to know, and not you, since you know I'm some fanatical tin foiler who never plans for things short term. That's your assumption, and as long as you believe that, I know you won't be bugging me for help in any fires, or floods in this state. Hey, thanks for saving me the hassle! Just curious, what are you going to do in a short term disaster when that iphone of yours won't work? Aww yeah, guess you didn't plan for that huh?

Point still stands.. for someone who claims to be realist.. you are ready to rob others for your own survival. Well realistically, there are tons of other events that even w/ little bit preparedness you can be ready for it, there is no need for that kind of mentality. So yes, I group you into the tinfoil crowd that think SHTF is the end of the world, so why bother prepare, instead you agree with the dumbass who would take others' property.

No need for assumption. Your comment says it all.

Saying that eventually everyone will run out of supplies, so why bother is ignorant.

You call yourself a "realist", because nobody can survive on their own, I call that lacking the confidence and mindset to survive.

So you are stating that in the event we have a large scale crisis that drags on for years, you have a perfect plan on how you will get by in the world, totally self sufficient? Why don't you stop making assumptions and think about that for more than 5 minutes. You might start asking yourself some questions you don't like. That isn't being a tinfoiler, that is just being real, about that prospect. It isn't ruling my life, but I at least am honest with myself to say I thought about that scenario. I never stated that in short term fire/flood/other disasters that stealing from others or whatever needed to be done was in the plan. That is you making blanket assumptions again. You obviously ignored what else I said, which is ok. I'm at least being honest with myself, and know what I have done in the community during the past disasters, and am helping with the relief efforts still going on. What have you done? What are you doing? What things have you practiced? Guess we see who plans a little more than the other. I'm past this childishness. Rant all you want.

Marlin warned me about this when I started this forum. I remember the last person that talked about his training and how he would take everything from us without any support. [fail]
