View Full Version : Sig lock slide in forward position to prevent chambering a new round?

I swear I read in a gun magazine that the Sig P226 MK25 Navy (or whatever) has the ability to lock it's slide in the forward position. So when you fire, the casing stays in the chamber and the slide does not slide. This would force the gases that normally escape through the eject opening on the slide to go through an attached suppressor.
This would also prevent the casing from springing out. I suppose to prevent leaving evidence on some sort of covert mission. If a follow up shot is necessary you just rack the slide manually.
I cannot find any info on this on the web and I don't have the magazine anymore. The magazine had the Sig on the cover with the Navy anchor engraved on the side. The mag may be upwards of 8-12 months old. I bought it at a grocery store.
Am I remembering right?
Yes. It locks it up to prevent discharge from the action and any action noise. You can do the same thing by putting your palm on the back of the slide and applying adequate pressure, but godlod luck aiming that way.

Thanks! Is there a button or something to enable it?

Your gonna put your hand behind a slide in an attempt to keep 20,000 psi worth of hot, expanding gasses from recoiling the slide?
Have fun with that....
FWIW I have never heard of any SIG that will lock closed for suppressor usage. If such a beast exists please post a link.....

Never seen the Sig, but I know Beretta makes a model that does that. It's just a lever that fits into a notch on the slide

This is what I remember.
Bert, I did it once. As long as you put enough pressure so the slide doesn't move, you don't really feel anything
However, I once watched a friend shooting a Kel-tel in .32. He kept remarking how small it was, and was talking more than thinking. He had his thumb straight up, resting on the back of the slide when he pulled the trigger. That's a mistake you only make once...
Never heard of such a feature on a Sig. Am now interested, though.
I'm fairly certain the navy model is just a standard 226 with a few features like special coatings on internal parts and maybe a chrome bore or something. I wasn't aware if any special mechanical features that make it any different from a standard 226.

Concensus?
I've held the slide from behind to prevent cycling on Glocks & Rugers and the one in this video appears to be a Sig. Never heard of any lever for the purpose though.

This! OP got me curious..I took them out and compared the mk25 vs the older 226. Looks exactly the same.

Breech lock? (not like the action, but didn't they put a breech lock mechanism on military pistols for silencer use?)

This video shows people grabbing the slide to prevent it from occurring, I don't know if it works as well from behind, but you can always try! [ROFL1]
