View Full Version : SBR process?
whats the process for getting a permit for a SBR?
was thinking about shortening an AMD-65
thanks
There is no such thing as a permit. You can set up a Revocable Living Trust, then fill out the required Form 1 and send $200 to the ATF. Then after about a 3 month wait, they send it back approved and you get your barrel cut down. That is more or less how it works. I'd give you more detail, but I haven't done it yet. I plan on cutting an 870.

Look three threads down.
I have a silencer coming for an AR-15 and have now realized that when I put it on one that I own, its going to be super long. So the next thing is to build a SBR I guess. I have a couple of spare lowers. Do I need to get a tax stamp for a lower form 1? and THEN build it, or can I buy parts while I wait for the ATF? _______=== XRumer 5.0 Palladium (http://www.botmasternet.com) RULEZ! ===

It is not a permit. it is a tax stamp. paid to the federal government for the amount of $200. a form 1 is where you build the gun to be a SBR. you can take an existing gun, get it engraved with your personal information, or your LLC, or your Corp, or your trust information and once approved by the ATF, you can have a SBR legally.
or you can buy an existing SBR (take a look at machine gun tours (alan samuel) on here and I think they have factory SBR you can buy after you get approval from the ATF).
Once approved, make sure you have a copy of your form with ATF stamp with you and the weapon at all times.
