Wouldn't a 5"x6" circle be an Oval ?
A circle is the same dimensions in all directions.....[Tooth]

And is anyone in Aurora interested in sharing an order & splitting the shipping ?

Any particular sizes or shapes you'd like to see in the bargain bin? We are limited with what we can make with the material space we have, but we are always open to new ideas! We are cutting some more next week!

Do you recommend conveyor belt scraps to hang the targets?

banks74
11-21-2014, 11:18
Absolutely! That is our preferred method for hanging targets. We have strap cut and ready to go if you need some. $8 each!

Sorry for another probably asked question, but at what range would you need to be to NOT require frangible ammo?

Sorry for another probably asked question, but at what range would you need to be to NOT require frangible ammo?

That would depend on the speed of the round you're shooting, more than most anything. For pistol stuff, pretty much far enough that you won't get hit by the splash. For rifles, I'd say 100 yards for anything that's not going much over 3000 fps. But everything I've been shooting has been 3/8"

That said you should never be shooting steel with steel core.

BTW all the one's I've bought from Austin have been holding up great.

banks74
11-28-2014, 22:33
Feel free to ask all the questions you have!

For pistols 25yrds and out for the 1/4" targets. For rifle, we would start at 200 and if you want to shoot them any closer, slowly move it in and test it as you go.

I'm thinking some 2" inch targets would be fun for the pellet guns? Thoughts? (obviously don't use bb's)

We have some 2 inch targets. They are out of 3/8" AR500. For a pellet gun, I could make you some thinner mild steel targets if you'd like!

Question - I have an AR500 plate that I hang with chains and bullet impacts only make a "whap" sound. I was kinda hoping for a nice "ring" on impacts. Will AR500 ring like that? Do I need to hang it differently?

banks74
02-07-2016, 02:02
AR500 can ring pretty well. Plates in the 10" up to abut an Echo ring pretty loud. I would try loosening you chain and letting the target have more slop. That's how we do it with our rubber strapping and that helps out. Direct bolting to something might help out as well. Like a t post mount.

A little late to this, but what is the chance you have something 2-3" wide and about a foot long, up to 2 ft would work as well. It's to protect the vertical leg of a texas star so it shouldn't be hit often and will only be pistols.

I'm pretty sure we have some 4" wide by 15" long strips in the shop.

We are either going to add a bunch of 1/4" AR500 stuff here are we may start a new thread. But we have a bunch of plate from a range rebuild and it is some great stuff. Obviously it is used but in stellar shape. We'll have some really solid deals on it.

We are still processing and cutting all the plate, but stay tuned...
