The Toureg v10 has 500hp out of the box and an ungodly amount of torque, not to mention awd.

Yes, yes it does. I have always kinda wanted one. 553 ft lbs of torque.

I'm guilty of that too! [werdo]
Dude in the pickup needs to learn how to use that switch on the dash that says "4wd" and not just lay into the throttle like that. Hook that Fahrvergnügen to any large 4wd pickup with some common sense behind the wheel and the truck takes it by sheer weight.

Start of the video he says he is rolling it forward to lock it in...

The weight differential is not as much as you think. The GVW of the VW is 6800lb approx. It is the extremely low center of gravity on the VW and the insane HP/torque to weight ratio that makes it a beast. I just wish the still made that model, I'd like one but they are getting a little old now.

Maybe he made the chain tight, that truck was not in 4wd. Front tires weren't moving or smoking. I'll call BS especially when that thing had stacks out of the bed, that isn't the only thing that truck had done to it.
Apparently they suck in the snow:

It's all about the tires in the snow, and getting traction. In that video they are on snow covered dirt, not exactly a traction rich environment.

From the looks of that vid I don't think they were even pulling each other at all, just spinning tires next to each other.

Touareg would win that too.
Not surprising...It's a dub!

Videos like this remind me of watching presidential debates. Lots of bullsh*t, chest beating, and deception. Very little susbtance, honest representation, or anything else that matters.
I'm sure a WRX could win that contest against that truck in that setup too. I'm not even sure what this is actually testing... Who has better tires? better traction? lower center of mass? more torque? better electronic traction control? better driver? Is this supposed to persuade people to go buy a Toureg instead of a lifted and modded Silverado?
[Shake]
And just for LOLs because I think a lifted pick-up would win this one:

LOL. There are a handful of people in the US who would be able to properly maintain that V10 diesel so that is true. Parts are not that bad.

Remind me again why people do this shit? Hook up two trucks and see who pulls better? Is it the cool thing on BooTube now? I'm going to hook my truck up to my allroad and see if I look cool on the tubes.
i really want a phaeton w12(because im a glutton for punishment)
couple of years ago they were 120k now you can scoop em up under 15k
Well what do you expect from a Chevy.....

That's what we call a clue. Plugs for that is only 2.6 oddly enough.
I've gotten to drive one for well over a month. Through all kinds of weather.. 700 miles driven in one day.. and I can tell you I love that SUV.

I have a few that come in the shop. Every damn time I think "Screw this X5 I am driving, I need one of these."
It's a great lesson in static vs sliding friction coefficients. The way to win is to let the other guy pull you until he starts to spin. His friction coefficient goes to hell. Then you start pulling without spinning your tires. Easy win every time. It has close to nothing to do with the vehicles involved.

You beat me to it.
HP/Torque is one variable, but kinetic friction between tires and track is another. Good traction control system can be an another significant factor as well.
I just wish I could get a 4 cylinder Tdi in a AWD car/small SUV from VW or Audi. Dream car would be the resurrection of the cab forward Vanagon Camper in AWD with locking difs with a Tdi.

Mein Bier halten, und dies zu sehen.
Well sure, but only if you do it in a Swabian accent.
Swabian... lord (redneck german). That was hard one when it was an older person. My base ended up taking most of the people from Swabish Gmuend when that closed, so I ended up down there with friends visiting other friends.

always put a blanket, tarp, or something over the tow strap to absorb the energy and make it less deadly!

Schomp BMW has one for sale right now. I laughed when I checked out the pics and it has a tire pressure light on. Dumbasses. Don't take a pic with error lights on.

Having previously owned a touareg I can say the error lights are constantly on. If its not one thing it's another. One of the greatest suv's I've ever owned and one of the worst. It drove amazing, all the right proportions and the right motor. It sucked donkey balls in the snow and was constantly in the shop to the tune of 13k worth of work in 12 months.

driver in truck does not know how to drive, back end smoking tires, if your tires are spinning you have no traction

Coefficient of static friction (Touareg) vs. coefficient of dynamic friction (truck). Once the truck lit 'em up, it was over.
I too was waiting for the strap to break, killing someone.

Tires make the difference in the snow more then traction control or AWD. My x5 was scary through Loveland pass in the snow till I put tires on it. Then it became a sure footed mountain goat.
The rest of it... wish you still had it and were bringing it to me. Lol.
I will keep my Cummins Dually with a Bradford Flatbed...10 time more useful then both of these put together.
Anyhow, a better way to go about this is diesel sled pulling.

The funny part of it was that vw certified it before I bought it so they got to foot the bill. I still don't understand why they didn't just buy it back from me, guess I should have asked. Damn thing was constantly in the shop.
And I'll agree it needed snows to really perform but that's funny because my Tahoe doesn't. Kinda makes you scratch your head huh?

Not really depending on the tires you had on the ho. Most light truck tires are significantly more aggressive tread patterns then even all season SUV tires.
