Just got this from the ATF regarding the eforms.

ATF eForms has been experiencing some severe performance issues for the past week. Some of the symptoms the users are experiencing include slow response times, inability to finalize and submit forms, pay.gov screen not displaying, inability to view PDF’s, and the system abruptly returning the user back to the home screen. While some users report that they are able to successfully submit forms, others are reporting that they are not.

While our technology staff has been actively engaged in trying to resolve the issues, up to this point our efforts have not been successful. We apologize for your inconvenience and your frustration.

We are hoping that we will be able to bring the eForms system back to its full operating capacity soon. Once the operations have been restored and you find that you have form 1’s and form 4’s in your draft account that you cannot get submitted and you have paid your tax using pay.gov, please notify us using “Ask the Experts – NFA” and include the confirmation information that you received from pay.gov (that includes the Pay.gov Tracking ID). Refunds are normally processed within 10 business day.

We are not taking this lightly. We assure you that we are doing all that can be done to come to resolve the issues. We request your patience and understanding while we work this out.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Are they that smart or that stupid? My first reaction is they don't like that so many people are trying to get in before the regulation changes concerning the CLEO signoff. Having computer problems are one way to slow things down. Or they could just be incompetant.

^^This, possibly.
Remember the Efiles is a new addition to the NFA application procedure. Overwhelmed is an understatement . While the person running the efiles was on the line with me she had 6 more calls. That was in a 15min period. I do give them credit for recognizing there is an issue. Instead of saying it's not them but something on our end.

Depending how you try to figure out their numbering system. From 22:30 wed - 6:45 thurs morning based on the numbers i received regarding application. There were 262. Again based on the #'s i received, 262 people submitted Eforums in an 8-9 hr period.

Myself, the tin foil of them intentionally slowing things down might be plausible, IF............ there were not as many folks buying suppressors, doing Form 1's already owned guns etc. The places i frequent in NoCo say their request for suppressors outpaces gun sales. Take the number of NFA dealers along the front range, i'd say it's impressive how many suppressors are or will be out there.

A far cry from being one of a handful of suppressor and SBR owners in 04. Not to mention the plethora of select fire guns people who still are or let lapse their NFA FFL, over the years.

Anyone have any idea on current wait times? I am going to get a liberty Mystic, anyone have them in stock around here? Not that I am in a huge hurry, but if the year + wait time is still a thing I would like to get the ball rolling.

I have made one call. I think it was around Sept sometime. Hearing them say 5 more months was such a kick in the nuts, I just decided to not call back.

I just called on a March 23rd pending and they told me sometime in Feb. I also efiled one in Dec. and I'm starting to wonder which one will get here first.

Paper, efiles time frame has already been discussed. 3/23 with a 2/14 approval, is the 11month time they have been quoting. IMO, efiles will end up being so "successful" it will be faster to paper file, as the efile backlog / popularity will overwhelm it. Today they are up and running during an east coast lunch time, vs beginning of week lunch hr shut down. Promising, who knows?
