Can anyone tell me what the deal is with pistol powder? I have the components I need to reload numerous pistol calibers but I ran out of powder a month ago and no one seems to have it in any brand. So why is it hard to find all of a sudden? I can still find rifle powder but guess I should have stocked up on pistol powder when it was available.

All of a Sudden ?? it's been that way for all of 2013. While folks were going crazy buying guns and magazines, others were buying ammo and components . You can find powder, usually in 1lb increments. Look at the load data for what you want to reload, then buy a few of the suggested powders.

If I can find some bullseye, unique, 231, hp38, AA#2 or AA#5, blue dot, universal, hs6 or hs7 I would be happy. Really whatever, I just need some damn powder not too picky right now. I know that powder has been hard to find but after looking for over a month I cant find any pistol powder and my stock pile on pistol powder just ran out.

Guess I should have had a bigger stock pile, I know up until the last couple months I have seen pistol powder around here and there and now nothing, I'm kicking myself in the ass for not buying it.

I've had the best luck finding 700x. It isn't my first choice, but for 9/40/45 it works pretty well.

Check Craigslist and Armslist. There's usually somebody with a pound or two for sale. Also, the RMGO website usually has a vendor or two. And welcome to the shortage, er, I mean, reality. Pretty sure there's been some at the gun shows too. Just don't be one of those people that expects to pay prices from the early 2000's or 1990's. [facepalm]

I may be able to help out. I bought 8lbs of 800x, but haven't played to see if my measure will handle it. If it does ok I got some 4756 or hs6 I'll let go.

Humm let me think. I got 2 lbs of Unique at Cabela's 2 weeks ago. That's the limit. Blue dot from a source not to be named, sorry 1 week ago. I passed on the HS7 at Cabela's last week end. 2 lbs of Red Dot 2 weeks ago as well. It's out there. Right time and right place. [Coffee]

Anyone know where there are 4lbs cannisters of Power Pistol for around $60 or E3 or BE-86 in 8lbs cannisters for less than $150?

Powder may be out there but not in quantity or at reasonable prices.

Dads wholesale will have powder but expect to feel like he really did not want your business after you paid too much.

800x does not meter well at all so do not get your hopes too high. I do use it for a few calibers but i weigh every charge.

Same here.

The last 4lbs of PP I bought was from Dads. More than I was used to paying and I've been holding off going back, but it may be my only option. Apparently Alliant does not answer my emails [gohome]

Have you guys tried something to eliminate the static? My first impression is that the static is the problem. Good news is I started loading 12 gauge, so I do have a purpose for it. My dillon measure and lee autodisk would both throw 2 decent charges and then one nearly empty. When I poured it back to the keg, there was a coating of powder over the entire reservoir.

Dads is a reliable last resort if i have convinced myself i really need a powder. FYI It seems everything i buy from him is about $10 over priced no matter the size or count so if you buy in a larger quantity your better off.

I have but i also do not have a Dillon or Lee autodisk powder measure. I have heard the autodisk does a decent job with flake powders. Try wiping it down with dryer sheets like sellersm suggested.
