Good afternoon everyone:

I hope that everyone has a very Happy Easter as well as a super weekend.

We just signed the contract for the Liquidation of The Shootin Den Gun Shop on Fillmore Street here in Colorado Springs, CO.

The Auction is set for the 25th of April onsite.

All C.B.I. Background checks will be accomplished at the Shootin Den.

Preview will be Friday, April 24th from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 P.M.

This company has been in operation since 1977 and it is sad to see such a historic company close, but we arehonored to have been chosen to help with their transition.

Please join us on Saturday, April 25 starting at 10:00 A.M. on location at The Shootin Den Gun Shop.

Have a great weekend.

Also remember that our Antiques, Collectables & Estate Auction will be next weekend starting at 10:00 A.M. with a preview on Friday, April 17 from Noon-4 P.M.

Information is now available on our Home Page to the right.

Best Always,

What the?..... The last I talked with the employees I was told that the store had been bought and was going to stay open. Something must have occured to precipitate this. I've got a call in to one of the employees to get the scoop.

Aparently, the potential business partner of the main buyer backed out on the deal just before signing the deal. This caused the primary buyer to back out too. I guess the employees found out last week.

They are closed until the viewing on the 24th (viewing - sounds like a funeral) then the Auction on the 25th but still have over $100k in inventory. No handguns. Mostly hunting type of rifles in the firearms catagory. Big sign in the window "Auction Soon".

Holt & Associates is supposed to update their website with more details sometime tomorrow. http://www.holtauction.com/ Check it out if you are interested.

I REALLY wanted to go to this for the Ruger 10/22, but I had to clean the office. [Rant1] It was my compromise to go to the gun show next weekend, but now I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice.

Hope everyone that did make it had good luck.

I was sad to hear they were closing when I called them.

I was told it went until 6am the next morning. ammo was auctioned by the box......... I heard it was painful.

Actually, it went until 7AM and only stopped then because the auctioneer ran out of their auction forms.

I got there @ 0930 Saturday morning and stayed until 0030 Sunday morning. At that point, my back and feet were so sore that I couldn't stay any longer. When I left there were still about 30 - 50 people. At the start of the auction there were so many people jammed in there that you could barely draw in a breath.

They still had a lot of items that they didn't get to be sold before the auction was called. These items will be sold @ another of Holt Auctions events in a couple of weeks.

I picked up a few items for a fair price, but like was already said, they were selling ammo, bullets, etc. by the box which is what took so long. Much of the stuff went for retail or better. That 10/22 went for somewhere around $260-280. I think the whole deal was a goat rope and the prices things were going for was ridiculous (in most cases).
