I'm thinking it is a knock-off Tavor.
Sure, it has a few new design features and "may" have more calibers to choose from, but why not go for something that is fully tested - as in military issued?
And for the same price, if not less?

The Tavor actually has a 9mm conversion out on the market! It's refreshing to see a gun company actually putting that much effort behind their product when so many promise the moon then waffle or don't deliver.

Aimsurplus had the Tavor 9mm kits in stock the other day. Think they were $899 if I remember correctly.

Davsel, Reasons (not my own just saying) Could be because: A: Buy 'merican B: Already existing company with quality products, ergo hopefully they work right. C: "Just other calibres", will make it one of the very few bullpup .308's available. D: Mildly sexier than tavor.

Personally I'm hoping for Tavor + MDR .308.

(Quick someone buy my KSG @ panic prices.)

I'm with Fitz on this one. This company knows how to build precision rifles. It'll be interesting to see what their .308 MDR is capable of. It also would be nice supporting an American company that told Pakistan to pound sand rather than have a million plus dollar sales contract with them. Pretty sure it's not a knockoff. Desert Tech has been building bull pups for a lot of years.

You could buy a 9mm AR for the price of the conversion.

Not for that much money. They can keep it.

$2500 for a Bullpup? Hell, you can buy a SCAR for less than that! Not gonna fly: high cost, no easy available parts, and no super cool ninja accessories.

At least the Tavor and SCAR have some time in the field.
Izzies have been beating up their Tavors for a decade in the desert. Twenty countries, including some US LE, are taking on the Tavor. Can't see the Desert Tech getting that kind of use.

I'm not sure why comparisons are being drawn instantly to the Tavor. They're both bull pups.....end of discussion. Features and accuracy will determine the rest. Swapping barrels without loosing zero seems a bit a lofty but pretty awesome if attainable. As for the price, why do some spend $2000+ on a Larure, Knights or LWRC when they can get a rifle that "looks" the same for $650. It's all about performance and this company has developed a pretty good reputation for it. I don't think anybody here has any idea what the reliability of the Tavor has been for the Israelis. They're secret like that.

I'll take that bet.
I also place reliability far ahead of "features and accuracy" when deciding on a battle rifle.

The magazine release appears to be above the trigger guard, where god intended.

Also, iI'd be curious to know the story on the ejection port. it appears to be designed to throw the brass forward through that little tube, which would be a nice feature.

How in the hell will its "sighting system" allow for the same zero for multiple calibers? I am calling BS on this, the sight looks like a reguar EOTech. Unless there is some sort of system which moves the scope rail up or down or the barrel's orientation is changed for each caliber I do not see this happening.

Only the irons "remain zeroed" with each caliber swap.
The front sight is attached to the barrel - each barrel has its own front sight.
All the adjustment is in the front sight.
Conceivable.

The only think I'd change on the tavor would be to put in a trigger guard. I like the way the hand-guard works, but I just like the 'containment' of the trigger when it's not out in the open. And they've already done this with the (m)TAR-21.

Meh, I'll pass. I've never thought to myself: I sure wish one of my Tavors was heavier and fired 30cal rounds.

That's because you're narrow minded.

A simple search will show you the history/problems/corrections that Israel has done regarding the Tavor. Check out Janes, Shotgun News- Fortier's article, and Defense Industry. Israelis already have free or near free M4s- must be a reason why the IDF went for the Tavor. Twenty countries are now using the Tavor...how many countries are using $5k Desert Tactical rifles?

Not sure how many are using DT rifles. I know one country that won't be though. There's always room for innovation and new firearms.
