I got a set of Lee 45 acp dies but have a problem. When I adjust and tighten the decapping pin it won't stay. I am sizing non-crimped brass and after 50 rounds or so the pin is pushed up so it won't knock the primers out. What am I doing wrong? I have always used RCBS dies but I want to transition to Lee dies for the powder through feature, but not if I am gonna be adjusting them all the time.
You need to tighten that nut that surrounds the pin. I had to tighten mine down fairly tight to get it to stay. If that doesn't work call lee and they will get you a new die
Also make sure that pin is not bent

I checked the pin and its not bent, I tightened it as tight as I could before letting my son size a few hundred cases, I had to redo all but about 50 on my RCBS dies because he didn't see that it moved and wasn't checking the cases haha.
I didn't see a bushing but was curious of something was missing. I just got this set a couple weeks ago.
Yep tighten that nut up on top
Tighter. Good open ended wrench on the die body and a box wrench or socket and 3/8 ratchet on the nut.
I imagine if you could break it, Lee would replace it.

Nothing wrong with lee dies IMHO. All Lee pistol dies are carbide, big +++!! I have used Lee, RCBS, Dillon, Hornady, and a few old school dies. They all do the same thing. Load. If the nut on the top is as tight as it will go. Contact Lee and they will replace them.

I used a large pipe wrench and a 1/2" drive ratchet and finally got it tight enough. Hopefully I never have to adjust it.

My 9mm Lee dies did that. I had to tighten the thing down so tight that I thought that it was going to strip out and even then on occasion it would pop the de-priming pin up. It still works, but I have since bought RCBS dies for 9mm and they just don't have any problems so I use them. If they break I have the lee to fall back on in a pinch.

I had that same issue. It might be a glued in primer. Unless its doing it on every round. I ran into some remmington .556 with a red circle around the primer. Everyone of those gave me trouble. Untill I soaked the in goof off :)

Those are sealed primers. If they were sealed, they were also likely crimped. If your decapping pin (lee) moves then it is either not tight enough, or the shaft or collet has worn from too much prior slippage or was out of spec to begin with. Send the die back to lee for replacement. Tighten the shit outta it.

Thats my car!
replace with RCBS. :)
As a matter of fact, I'm doing that for my .308 die set today. On my way to Walmart now to grab the FL set I saw there yesterday.
The die started scratching my brass so I took it apart to polish the inside and the damn collet nut was nearly impossible to get out.
Sure enough when I did get it out, the threads were all bunged up on both the collet nut and die. The bullet seating die adjuster was sloppy too and giving me inconsistent seating depths. POS.
