Watching the news last night and today you would think the zombies are coming. I did have to use 4 wheel drive this morning to get out of the driveway after the plow stacked up about 2 feet of snow in my driveway, but we only got 4" probably.

Maybe 3 inches in my hood...locked the hubs before I got on the highway, because it was pure ice. No issues getting to work, other than watching a couple of people spin without hitting anything(mostly in 4wd SUVs, one Crown Vic taxi).

I'm with you, OP. I was expecting at least a foot (and even that means nothing to me; call me when we get at least 30"), and when I looked out the window I just chuckled at our 3" shitstorm.

It was funny watching the poor folks in cars try to get around this morning. The city has a little plow buggy thing that's stuck because they were trying to plow a sidewalk that the big plow buried.

I hate the snow and cold and only live here because of my wife, but I do own a 4x4 for a reason. If we had gotten a real snow storm I would be out having fun right now.

Yep about 4" here. Wifey was hoping for a snow day but no such luck.

I'm getting tried of the weather reports on the news. Everything seems to be of biblical proportions anymore, they even said it was an epic all time snow in the ski areas at 18". Oh and my commute was pretty bad as I almost tripped over the dog heading to the kitchen.

Some asswipe in front of us, in a 4runner, had no clue he could drop it in to 4X for getting up the hill. My area to ft fun was ice base and slushy, 8" here equal amount in the fort.

About 10"-12" here.

I went to Granby yesterday. Turns out CDOT was closing Berthoud Pass at 8:00pm. Had to cut the day short to make it past the gate, in Winterpark, on time. Lots of snow on the road and most people were driving reasonable.

First snow trip in the new (to me) Cherokee. It did pretty well.

Today has been [Plow].

Eldora got 23" of new snow.

We got about 4-5" up here in Evergreen... I shoveled the driveway this morning, didn't take that long... Not exactly what I would call an epic storm by any measure. Although my friends are non stop blabbing about how they're so excited to hit the slopes today. Everyone's acting like it's never snowed here before... [Shake]

I had to put it in 4X to get out of my parking spot after breakfast. A group of college kids were trying to push their newish Grand Cherokee out of their spot. Pretty epic snow storm.

I won't even start with the "uphill both ways to school" stuff, but I agree with every time we get snow now it's apocalyptic nowadays.

The media does the chicken little dance anytime they can milk it for some cash.

Typical winter storm up here...8 inches or so and snow packed roads. I plowed my driveway, shoveled my decks, and went about my business. We don't get the big stuff for another month or two.

Conifer did prove that you don't have to ever be right to be a meteorologist... they predicted 13", I don't think it was nearly that much.

I am not sure on the total; less then a foot. I live up by Riley Peek so it is always different then around the Aspen Park area. Unless the total is measured in feet, its not a big deal.

Spoken like a true Coniferite... [Beer] Glad to know you guys haven't gone all mamby pamby like these transplants down here in Evergreen.

I saw a tractor trailer jack-knifed so hard that the cab got ripped off and was laying on its side in the snow on my way up to Cheyenne this morning. Other than that, just some cars in the ditch here and there.

My Jeep cleared its throat to get out of the driveway but otherwise I had no trouble going down to Castle Rock. I drove a little slower, but was rewarded by watching idiots spin out on the ice.

but we only got 4" probably.

That's double what Atlanta got and they were front-page news for days.
We routinely get winds above hurricane level (74mph), yet our afternoon breezes don't merit names like Atlantic wind over 74mph.
I want news coverage!!!!!!!!!

Here at the Center of the Universe (aka: metro-Bailey) we got right at a foot. It's odd that we got more snow than Conifer. That rarely happens. The highway was just wet this morning, though.

Took the truck out this morning. Never got to 4H as it just wasn't necessary. I ought to put a little weight in the bed because like any pickup, it will fish a little when you turn or push the accelerator a bit. Easy to control and by 10A I went back to driving my Toyota Yaris around town.

This snow was a bit heavier than I'm used to in January. Seems like it was warmer than normal for a January snow. Maybe it's the global warming [LOL]

The snowmageddon hyperbole seems to be a sin of all large metro areas weather peoples. When I lived in north Illinois (as in rock throwing distance to Wisconsin) The local new channels never even mentioned snow other than as another factor in the general forecast unless It was over a foot or so. I sorta of liked the attitude.

And then this afternoon it melted on the streets and all looked well...... Until 5 PM when another band hit and dropped 2-3". Roads are snow packed again but with ice underneath. Back to where it was this morning. Road crews have to be loving this. [Beer]

So I paid more attention to all the cars off the side of the road on my way back down from Cheyenne today (after my first post), and noticed that there were more van/minivans than anything else. Saw a new Nissan Pathfinder WAY off the road and in a ditch up against some trees right at Loveland heading s/b. I bet there is some poop in the front seat of that one.

I have to wonder how many of the local weathermen lived here during the '97 storm? Last I heard, just recently they are forecasting an El Nino event later this year. Know what that means? Real snow next winter if it pans out.

Also the 96-97 april snows 19th and 21st that started in the morning. I remember because I drove my 70 Grand Prix in the first one and got stopped 1/2 block from my house.(car turned into a snowplow) Next year I was driving my FWD sunbird and wound up in the same parking spot. [Flower]

And it's snowing again. Went out and shoveled the 3" from last night and put down a little salt for the mailman. He mentioned last year that he appreciates us shoveling the walk and keeping him from falling on his ass.[Flower]

I think with all the moisture this summer, we are in for some real snow this year. This is easily the biggest metro storm we've had this year. I have to shovel again from snow yesterday. Weather forecast is calling for some 20% chance all through next weekend last I checked.

My neighbor is a mailman (in our neighborhood, but not our street) who constantly complains about people not shoveling their walks. So I've been doing it in the morning, despite the fact that every time I come home I see Mailman tracks right through all the grass.

Ours is good. If I have a package he will bring it and the mail up. He always is good about picking up the flat rate boxes though he was curious a few years ago when I bought a bunch of surplus army vests and had 7-10 boxes a day leaving here for a month. [Flower]

We got another 4 to 5 inches last night. Went cross country skiing this morning and it was amazingly still in the woods. I'm pretty sure we just call it January or more generally Winter.

The media blows everything way out of proportion.
