I haven't seen this as a topic and figured I'd ask you guys what your favorite hot sauce is (Tabasco, Frank's Red Hot, Tapatio, etc.). Recently I've taken a liking to this stuff.40237 This stuff is freaking awesome! I feel dirty knowing that it says the word "Boulder" on it, however I find solace in the idea that a ton of liberals painstakingly made this is a sweatshop and the main ingredient is hippie tears.

I received some of that Harry's Habanero for Christmas and it's some of the tastiest Habanero sauce I've tried.

IMHO, the best everday use hot sauce is Castillo Salsa Habanera. It's cheap (when you can find it) and not overwhelming.

This is definitely my favorite, but I may be a bit bias because Harry was my old neighbor in Denver. He calls it Boulder Hot Sauce because he thought it would sell better than Denver Hot Sauce. At any rate, I go through a bottle of it a month. It's great on pizza or mixed in mayo on sandwiches. I like the Smokey Serrano as well, but prefer the habanero. I trade him meat for hot sauce often.

Franks for white people food.
Really like Chipotle Tobasco, but only ever have it AT Chipotle.
Recently discovered Valentinas (CHEAP) for mexican food.
I like Sriacha, but only ever eat it in Pho or other Asian cuisine.
I posted some Ghost Chile stuff in the first hot sauce thread from a few years ago. That one was okay, but it was buttery, so was only good in certain things as well.

Make your own. Seriously. It will come out far better than anything you can buy.

2 cups vinegar
1 cup cider vinegar
3-5 cloves garlic
1 tomato (optional)
2 tsp salt
*Bell Peppers
*Hot Pepper of choice

Take everything in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Keep simmering until all ingredients can easily be 'cut' with a blunt object.
Cool.
Blend the entire contents on high for 5 full minutes.
Take a shot because you deserve 1 for every hour spent in the kitchen.
Cool and store for 3 days. **Cool and store in something that can alleviate pressure. A mason jar with a loose lid will do. Point being - pressure will build in your container because of the chemical reaction going on.

*Balance your bell to hot pepper ratio depending on your heat tolerance and your flavor aim. I use a 3:1 ratio on ghost peppers to bell peppers for a medium heat. 6:1 for habanero. I prefer orange or yellow bells.

The entire operation can be done in around 30 minutes and you can tweak the recipe as you see fit.

Try it once and you won't go back to anything else!

I can't have a Chipotle burrito without dowsing It before every bite lol. It's the only thing I've ever tried it though. For some reason I'm pretty particular on what hot sauces I use for certain things...sandwiches - cholula or shriacha (sp?), eggs - extra hot tobasco, fried chicken - Frank's, etc. So I can't say I have a favorite. I guess if I had to pick one I like on most things it'd have to be cholula.

As mentioned by Zundy, sriracha on all Asian grub...it's pretty awesome on left over (only) spaghetti too.

Make a base sauce, let it sit for 2-3 days, then add or subtract as you go. I usually don't form an opinion about my chili, or sauces for at least 2-3 days. This allows the flavors to really meld together. What taste mildly hot today, can turn out to be smoking hot come monday.

FRANKS......[Ban2]

Too vinegary for my taste although I do use it here and there in recipes usually with enough ingredients to make the overwhelming vinegar flavor. My wife makes a hot wing/cream cheese dip that kicks much ass but the cream cheese takes the edge off of the vinegar taste.

I've got a fridge full of various hot sauces. Most of the usuals mentioned here along with a few not listed. I highly recommend getting a jar of Mrs Renfro's Mango Habanero. You can find it at Walmart even and it's delicious. There's also a company called Horsetooth Hot Sauce that has many excellent flavors. The O Face is a good one. There's some others but those two make up the lion's share of my use as in addition to the usuals that have been discussed already.

I just picked up some Horsetooth Hot Sauce an hour ago. Green Habaneros, Serranos, Tomatillos. Small bottle with a shaker top, perfect for sprinkling on tortilla chips, or eggs, or whatever. Good stuff. A lot less bite than the habaneros would suggest. Maybe cause they're green, I don't know.

Generally, though, it's Texas Pete for most stuff, but Tobasco for anything approaching Cajun.

Sitting at home last night, I got bored and decided to surf amazon for useless shit to buy. I decided to look for hot sauces and came across Aadvark. Had a ton of positive reviews so I placed the order and it should be here tomorrow.

https://i.postimg.cc/28qKrgLQ/aardvark.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

I counted the hot sauces in the fridge and we have roughly 14 different kinds +/-. My GF and I are hot sauce fanatics so we are constantly trying new stuff when we find it. We picked up a bottle of Gringo Bandito (the scorpion pepper one) and it is delicious! Very good flavor with a nice punch to it. If anyone in the NoCo area enjoys hot wings, go to Bogey's Golf Course (Highlands). A friend of mine recently told me that they served hot wings in which I replied I knew because I have been going there for years now. He said when you order them next time, tell them you want HOT wings and emphasize on the hot part. So the next time we went in, I did what he said and the waitress looked at me and said "well how hot do you want them?" Curious I asked how hot they could make them and she replied "Bomb level one through ten." I ordered the level 10 and when the delivered them... shit oh dear, did they deliver. I thought my ears were going to melt off. The problem was, it was the type of heat that was hot when eating them but f******* stupid hot if you stopped. The flavor hurt so good. This was about four months ago and I have ordered it every time I go there for wings trying to bring a new victim with me each time. If you are a true heat lover, level five is about right. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Remember back when Tabasco was pretty much the only option? I can barely eat it now. I do like the Chipotle Tabasco, especially on my Chipotle (as well as the salad dressing).

FoxTrot, I put Frank's Red Hot on a lot of my food. I've had some hot sauce that was good before (think I posted it on here years ago) but not everything is as versitile as Frank's. Just thinking of dishes besides wings and red chilli and I'm coming up with Ramen or any other soup, and eggs for starters. Put a drop or three in a sandwich for a few very special bites. Cayenne powder in the coffee is a great finish during the winter, but that's going down a different road entirely.

Louisiana hot sauce is good stuff for sure imo.

For a super good Goo to put on breakfast burritos or any smothered Mexican dish:

1- tub of Santiagos hot
1- tub of green chilies

Simmer this concoction for a few hours rendering it down a bit, and you will have a super delicious green chili mixture to indulge in.

It’s a tourist trap, don’t care—sample mouth-on-fire hot sauces, before cooling down with a freshly made praline. Cost: $1.99

My wife ran across this image today...and it seemed appropriate;

I like many hot sauces, and I like trying new hot sauces. Louisiana is a generally good sauce, so is Cajun Chef. I like the flavor of Chipotle Tabasco. Franks does well in many applications. The awesome thing is, there are so many options these days.

Yes there are. We browse the local farmers market to see what the locals offer. What's interesting is the ACE hardware store always has a decent selection of the local offerings , as well as some name brands.

Marie Sharps Habanero. I buy it by the case. Made in Belize. Very flavorful and very spicy.

Anything bought in the case has to be good. Picked up a bottle on Amazon today! Can't wait to try it!

Sitting at home last night, I got bored and decided to surf amazon for useless shit to buy. I decided to look for hot sauces and came across Aadvark. Had a ton of positive reviews so I placed the order and it should be here tomorrow.

I really like this stuff (obviously). I meal prep every week and most the time eat a lot of the same thing (chicken, turkey, fish) so I rely heavily on hot sauce to choke it down. This stuff has been great on all of that! Kind of a smokey, carrot, habanero flavor with a touch of bbq. Some decent heat (close to regular tabasco for scale).
