View Full Version : What is the worst BS ticket you ever got? Is this bad or good?
I was working on the brakes in my Mustang and when I was ready to take her for a test drive I got pulled over and was in quite a bad position, because I didn't have my papers on me. I was in dirty clothes, and just going for a spin then I was going right back to finish the job.
Well he asked for my license and insurance and gave me a lecture about going to fast. I didn't have any of it but I have paid all my bills so its up to date. He takes my registration and leaves for while. And comes back telling that he won't give me a ticket for speeding (I never admitted to going faster than the speed limit) He won't give me a ticket for anything else like no proof of insurance or license... Then he asks if I have lived anywhere else in Colorado? I told him that I used to live in Englewood and that is where I grew up but that was like 13 years ago. He asked if I got into a lot of trouble there? I said that I was charged with a lot of BS tickets there. None stuck.
Now the BS part he says that he is going to give me a ticket for the Fuzzy Dice on my mirrior. WTF!! He says that it won't affect my insurance or put any points on my license. Its $54 ticket and I can just mail it in. Well even though I told him that I am not working and I can't afford a chunk of change like that right now. He says that he could charge me with speeding and all the other stuff too. I told him that isn't any better maybe he would like to try again. So instead of catching criminals or voter defrauders he is harassing me.
This is like a speeding ticket that I got a few years back where it costs me $550 for going over the speed limit by 11 mph. I had to take a class and pay a fine but they didn't spank me with points. There is some serious crack down going on in my neighborhood lately too. But I am getting sick of getting trouble for minding my own business. And I want that "thing" removed from my name that tells cops to ticket me no matter what when I get a contact with them. Its been 13 years since I have even lived in that piss bucket town and I am sick of this shit.
Any way is any one else getting speed taxed or talking to the police tax lately? If your not good for you but don't get cocky it happened to me and I keep a low profile. Should I just pawn something and pay the ticket or fight it? Or pay the ticket and start raising hell with the Mayor of Denver about the cops having free rain of the people here namely me?

I got a ticket for J-Walking in El Paso Texas. I was dropping off some blue prints at the city building down town and the only parking spot was reserved for a Judge. SO , I thought I'd just park, run in and out. Well a cop saw me run across the street and stoped me. I was thinking, Oh man he busted me for parking.... So I didn't argue at all about a $15 J-Walking fine.

All I can say is be on your toes while driving now.
I see more and more cops every day out there just waiting, pulling people over, giving them tickets for the smallest of things.
I see them at 4:30 in the morning...that used to never happen.
In my opinion, I feel they are giving all the extra tickets as job security. If there is any lack in funding for their department, they can easily make up for it by writing all the extra tickets, not letting as many people go and instead of taking a nap at 4:00AM, they are out there getting the early AM speeders who are late to work, or who know there isn't another damn person on the road crazy enough to be up that early and don't feel they are risking anyone else by going an extra 5-10 over the limit.
Next time you go out for a drive, be more watchful...you will see more cops than usual and more people pulled over than usual.

I don't know about Denver, but in the Springs they're using it as a revenue stream that's not limited by Tarbor... that becomes painfully obvious when you go to court- they'll immediately offer a non-moving violation, and if you push, they'll usually make it a zero-points violoation- but the FINE WILL NOT be reduced under any circumstances (unless you're found not guilty)
they've lost sales tax revenue with the economic downturn- so they've been looking anywhere they can get funds...
And comes back telling that he won't give me a ticket for speeding (I never admitted to going faster than the speed limit) He won't give me a ticket for anything else like no proof of insurance or license...

+1....act like an ass to the cop and you'll usually get a piece of paper reminding you not to do it again.
Gee, I'm pretty proud of the fact that I haven't had a ticket in nearly 30 years...

I used to get tickets everywhere I went, lost my license, got tickets for driving without a license, no insurance, exibition of speed the whole nine yards. My insurance used to run $180 a month! Now I havent had a ticket since I dont remember when, because I only drive grandma cars. But the only thing that really saved my butt on my driving on a suspended experience was that I was "very polite and honest", got a $440 fine and a defered sentence.
Usually I agree with people telling offenders to just pay the price and shut up...HOWEVER, who are any of you to tell this guy that he should be happy with being harassed? Cops get away with raising money for the city because people let them. What is the point of listing out all the things he could have gotten a ticket for, if he's not going to write those tickets? Then to give him some other bullshit ticket? I don't think it'd go over very well if you told a police officer, "Oh yeah? Well I could have spit right in your face when you approached my window, but I didn't. You're getting off light, so go back to doing your job and stop harassing the people that pay your salary." You think that'd go over well? Hardly. You think if that office complained about it online, people would tell him, "Hey, you could have been assaulted with a lougie, just be glad that you only got busted acting like a worthless dickhead and move on." I'd understand if DOC was doing something that actually warranted a ticket, but that is obviously not the case, since he would have just been given whatever ticket he deserved.
Don't try to label me as a cop hater, I'm simply trying to point out that things like this are unacceptable.

DOC, if you were doing 15 over and driving like an asshole, then you should shut the hell up and be glad you only got a BS ticket for the dice in your mirror.

Would you like my full name?
He broke the law and got caught.
Simple.
Driving 36 is a 35 is illegal.
Dont like the law, get it changed.
I'm not arguing that it's not illegal. The point I'm making is that if he was doing something illegal, ticket him for it (I guess, I wouldn't personally, if I were a cop, but all the departments told me no. ;) ..) but don't waste his time talking about all the stuff you could write him a ticket for, then give him a ticket for something else, JUST to be able to give him a ticket. LEO stands for Law Enforcement Officer, not Lecture at Every Opportunity. Judges are for lecturing, NOT the police.

Well your wasting our time lecturing on something thats not even your problem....so are you gonna stop your bitch rant now?

There is no gray area in getting tickets. Either I get a ticket or a warning and I got a ticket for some BS fuzzy dice on the mirror. It seems like I got it for my his trouble in stopping me. I usually am very nice to cops and I don't give attitude at all. That gets you no where fast.
I guess I will pay it no matter the hardship. As long as it looks like I got off easy I guess complaining makes me look like I'm sniveling. You can look forward to more of this from other people.
ETA: While I was working on my stang the other day my neighbor got pulled over in front of my driveway he was held there in cuffs until I was done working on my car. If this is the end of it I would pay the fine but I see this as just the beginning of harassment for people. The cop was running radar that day they usually run it there but it seems to dialed up in my hood lately.
Well your wasting our time lecturing on something thats not even your problem....so are you gonna stop your bitch rant now?
I'm not a public servant who is paid to enforce the law. If officers want to lecture people, they can do so all they want, on their own time. Just like I am on here.

Fare enough the public has spoken every cop should write every single person they pull over a ticket for what they pulled them over for.
No small talk no nothing, every person gets a ticket every single person you pull over gets a ticket so you can make everybody happy.
God forbid if you point out the mistake they made and give them a warning...If you do that you must just be harassing them.
Write the ticket it will make them much more happy to know that you just did your job and are not harassing them.
Ignorance is bliss!!!
Either you give then a lecture or a ticket but not both. I don't think its illegal to do both but its f'n rude at the minimum.
Last I checked a vision obstruction in your windshield is illegal.
And that salary of the cops that you pay? He pays it too.
If an officer pulls someone over to tell them that they did something out of line, but it isn't serious enough to even write a ticket for, then they shouldn't have even pulled them over in the first place!! Attention all officers, if you tell someone, "I pulled you over for this, here's why you shouldn't do it. Don't do it anymore...I'm just going to give you a warning today, just watch how you drive." All the person hears is this, "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, you're not getting a ticket." Don't think for one second that they actually care what you just said, or have any plans to change the way that they drive, just because you asked them to.
Ignorance is bliss indeed!
And that salary of the cops that you pay? He pays it too.
So they should know better then?
It's our patriotic Duty to accept that we are going to receive tickets, and we should pay them. Can you imagine the budget headaches that it would cause if we all obeyed every traffic law for even ONE day? Besides, it gets us used to being asked for our "papers" for no apparent reason, so that when the next phase of the erosion of our rights occurs, we will meekly accept it.
So, welcome the opportunity to contribute to financing your local governments. Besides, if we can keep the cops busy with traffic enforcemnet, then they will be much safer than if they were to try to prevent or investigate actual crimes, and we all want that, right?

Thats the way it should be. The ticket (and fine) is a much more effective lecture in my opinion.

Well when it comes down to it my feeling is that since he didn't want to give me a ticket for all the things he could have (while it would have been dropped because all I had to do is show up in court and show the papers.) he gives me a BS ticket when he could have just let me go just as easily with the lecture I already got. I don't hold any ill will towards cops. In fact my brother is a detective for Denver. So we talk all the time about sometimes if you can spend your time on something more important its better. He might have cut me some slack if I mentioned that too but I didn't want to. I am just worried that if I decide to take this to court I might have to delay my enlistment into basic training. I will pay it but I won't like it. And since I took off the fuzzy dice in front of the cop (and I don't think it was blocking my vision or I would have taken it down myself) I feel that my lesson is learned and punishment is expensive.
I have only had one “BS” ticket, the few others I have had were well deserved…….
BS ticket as follows….. I was driving home from a friends house super late (3AM) and it was in the dead of winter. It was one of those SUPER cold nights where it was like 3 degrees and howling wind. The wind chill had to be WELL into the negatives. My buddies house I was leaving from was about 2 blocks away from a 7-11 Store and I wanted to get something to drink for the drive home. So I pull into the 7-11 parking lot, park right in front of the front door and leave my car running. I figure I am going to be in and out of the store and I wanted to give my car some extra running time to heat up. At this point, my car is the only car in the whole parking lot and I don’t think I even seen any other cars on the road when I pulled in there. I jump out LOCK THE CAR, go into the store, pick out a drink and head to the cash register. This whole process couldn’t have been more than 2 – 3 minutes. I glance outside and see a couple people around my car. I tell the cashier to ring up my drink and throw a couple bucks on the counter then head out the front door to see what’s going on. I open the door and there are two Aurora police officers checking out my car with their flash lights, one on each side. I politely say “Is there something wrong? Can I help you with something?”. One of the cops says “You are not suppose to leave your car unattended while its running. Someone could steal your car”. I explained that my car doors were locked and that I was keeping an eye out for anything going wrong. That is how I seen you two looking at my car. This is when the one officer starts to be a dick. He says “YOUR DOORS ARE NOT LOCKED, I CAN SEE THAT THEY ARE UNLOCKED!!!”. I calmly say “Try to open the door then”. He tries and of course he cant open that or any door and then yells out “YOU ARE GETTING A TICKET ANYWAY!!!”. At this point I am freezing my ass off standing there and trying to explain the situation isn’t making any difference so I simply say “Do what you have to do then”. I turn to go back inside to get my change and my drink and both officers charge towards me and tackle me up against the door pinning my arms behind my back. At this point I know that any resistance to what they intend to do is futile so I completely comply with whatever they tell me/force me to do. They cuff me, frisk me, then proceed to dig through my car for about 20 minutes looking for god knows what. They find nothing of interest and they finally uncuff me and hand me a “BS” ticket for Unattended Vehicle or something like that. I could have made a big deal about it but I figured that these guys were out for blood that night, any blood I think, so it was best to just act cool calm and collected the whole time. When they released me I asked them if it was alright to get my change and my drink out of the store and leave. They dismissed me with a snide “Beat It” wave and tore out of the parking lot like there was a Rodney King beating they were missing out on somewhere else. I guess the only good thing out of it is that my car was running the whole time so by the time I got back into it the windows were fully defrosted and it was nice and warm……… Needless to say, I am still a little leery of Aurora Police. I understand that everyone has a bad day once in a while. Maybe I got snared during one of their bad days?? The way I see it, if some thug is motivated enough to wait near a 7-11 at 3AM during a miserably cold winter night to steal my piece of crap car then more power to him. What I think happened is the Police thought I was going rob the 7-11 and they were trying to avert that from happening. This is fine, but they could have gone about it a lot better than they did. I guess dealing with thugs, liars and dead beats every single day jades your impression of others or situations.

BS ticket as follows…..
MY Eyes MY EYES, they are bleeding.
I was under the impression that you weren't allowed to leave your car running unattended, but I don't understand why they tackled you, NOR why they searched your car without your permission. Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. I would have been screaming about a lawyer the whole time.
haven't had a BS ticket but have been pulled over for no reason & hassled (no ticket)
summer in college I decided to drive back to CA and hang out for a month or so. Old beat up pickup and WY plates must be fairly rare in southern CA. I'm just getting into town, late at night, been driving for like 15+ hours. Cops pull me over, ask me why I'm there. Do I have any guns in the truck "No". Can we look in your truck? "No" Give me a field sobriety test (walk the line) while they see what they can from outside. Where are you going?
then let me go with nothing. no warning, no ticket, no bye. Was doing nothing wrong.
add another item to the list of why never to move back there.

First a question, then my BS pull-over story.
Question: Doesn't the Constitution grant us the right to see evidence against us? The reason I ask is that more often than not, if you ask to see the Laser/Radar with the speed the officer claims you were driving, you will typically be told that a) they don't have to show you, or b) they've already cleared the reading they got from you're vehicle. Given that the equipment reading is the only actual evidence against you makes me question these answers. This happened to my wife a couple of years ago. She was calm, polite, and didn't argue with the fact that she was speeding (she knew she had been). She asked to see the speed gun and was told that the other motorcycle officer had already cleared the reading. ?? Where's the evidence? If it's true that they don't HAVE to show it to you, WHY is speeding (which is a criminal act) exempt from the rules of evidence?
Now, my BS pull-over story. I was working as an Air Force cop and had made successful DUI stops (since they were non-government civilians Colo Spr PD made the actual arrests). I went out to a club with other AF cops and somehow pissed off one of the bouncers on my way off of the property (as a former bouncer myself, I still can't figure out what I did). Since I was driving, all I had to drink that day was 2 swallows of a wine cooler (standard sized swallows, not gulps). The bouncer radioed another bouncer who was with CSPD. When I was 2 blocks away from the club I noticed that I was being followed by CSPD - two marked vehicles. 3 blocks later they pulled me over; I stopped in a Denny's parking lot. They gave me 2 FSM's (Field Sobriety Manuevers; they're supposed to give a minimum of 3 unless the suspect is a potential risk to themselves or others), one was the horizontal gaze which is based on your autonomic reflexes and you can't cheat. They then told me I failed the FSM's and that the only reason they weren't going to "take me in" is due to "professional coutesy" (they saw my gun belt and other gear in my back seat). They told me not to drive for at least an hour but other than that I was free to go. I SO wanted them to give me a roadside breathalizer - I would have blown totally clean. I stayed calm and cooperative the whole time but inside I was fuming as I knew I hadn't broken any laws. At that point I lost respect for most of the CSPD.

Unfortunately, I live few blocks down by Colorado and Orchard. I am learning slowly since they put that damn thing 2 years ago. They never issued any tickets for speeding. But I got few of turned right on red, failed to stop, or ran red light BS. $70 a pop... [Rant1]
Note the speed trap.. it's so inaccurate. from 12mph to 32mph in less than 2 secs.. right.
And nope.. not a CDI.. no diesels.. just pure horsey on rubbers. Well, perhaps some water for the dramatic burnt down as I just got a car wash that afternoon.

Kudos to you. Unfortunately, most times it's not worth your time to insist that you are right on events such as this. I had to swallow my ego many times and ended up saving time at the end. And time worthes so much more to me [Beer]
I once had a CSPD guy write me a ticket, then look me up and down and say "I don't like your attitude" and ammed the ticket, doubling it on the spot. To this day I wish I could rewind time and instead of signing show him my wrists, give him some choice words and get arrested.
They say it's about public safety and money has nothing to do with it.
Well, if that were true they'd be doing a fine job, because they've cracked down so hard people aren't speeding anymore. The problem is, with people speeding less they're getting less revenue for tickets, so they've upped the per mile over amount and now will ticket you for cutting a wet fart in the car.
Forget the fact that they pretty much get to do whatever they want, all in the name of officer safety.
It's nice to see I'm not the only one that dislikes the cops in this town.

Not a cop basher. After the situation I mentioned in the post about and then almost getting tazered some months back bacause I simply asked "What law or statute did my son violate" while I was walking up to the police officers - never getting closer than 8 feet to them and keeping my tone and volume down (open/empty handed), I don't trust nor do I respect many of the officers now on the job here in Colo Springs. I'm afraid too many of the officers have lost their perspective and have allowed their authority to go to their heads. It's sad because I'm sure that there ar more officers on the job here that are just as respectful to the public as the public is to them (on a case-by-case basis); I just haven't had the opportunity to encounter them yet.

I love police. Every night before bed, I pray that my door gets kicked in, and my innocent family held at gun point by a SWAT team doing a no-knock raid on the wrong house from the bad tip of an "informant." I'd want to shake their hands, but they'd leave my house in shreds without a single "sorry, wrong house" and be off into the night. AWESOME!!!

You should really read the OP again. He pulled me over for speeding then gave me a BS ticket. If he had me dead to rights for the other stuff he would/should have given the ticket. Anything else is just for revenue and is insulting. To bad you comment on only ten percent of things you read, otherwise you might have known that.
