According to my Kestrel the humidity in the house is around 12% right now. The dishwasher (the machine...not my wife) just finished. Opened the door and stood breathing in the glorious, moist steam. It does the sinuses good and it raised the humidity in the living area of the house to near 20%. For a short time, anyway.

What other seemingly innocuous things bring you relief or pleasure, even if only temporary.

Ha! When I worked the night shift and had to drive home to Bailey I'd pull into the drive and let me 93 Ford diesel lull me to sleep at idle. On a rare occasion I'd pull into the drive at around 0800 and wake up at 1030 or 1100, still sitting in the seat. That truck was the best sleep aid ever.

Fresh snow, dry driveway and a hot cup of coffee while watching my neighbors shovel.

Being alone on top of a 14er.

Walking in the woods and coming face to face with a bull elk.

If I am almost awake, my wife snuggling up on one side and the dog on the other.

5yrs ago I bought a bike in MN, while living in GA. I flew up and rode it home, stopping at a friends house in KY. The next morning him and his daughter was leading me out to the interstate when he hit a horse resulting in his death and an air ride for his daughter. I held his hand while he died. After everythingwas done that could be, I continued onto Chattanooga to another friends house and spent the night. I went to bed worrying that the next day was when "it"would hit, as I'd kept my wits pretty well to this point.

the next morning I awoke and there was an adjoining bathroom where my friends wife was getting ready for work. I could hear the water running, her drying off, the tink of her hair brush against the sink, makeup containers being moved,....I can't explain it, but those were comforting sounds that kept me together.

I can still hear those sounds from memory.

Been thinking about this one a little more, I love the smell of rain either before or after it rains, enjoy it the most when I am fishing at Quincy Reservoir (reminds me of my dad for some reason) or up in the mountains. Nothing better than mountain rain to wake the senses.

Speaking of which, I have a couple spots by my house where I go to watch lightning storms sweep across the front range.

The view of the mountains I get every time I leave my neighborhood.

Yeah. That's a good one. Some things just touch us on an instinctual level after a tragedy.

I like listening to the sounds my house makes both early in the morning while I drink coffee or late at night just before falling asleep. I also really enjoy listening to the heavy breathing and other slight noises my little dog, Lola, makes as she falls asleep cuddled in the crook of my arm with her head on my shoulder. Very soothing for some reason.

Puppy breath.

The silence of falling snow at night.

A cold, rainy morning with no where to go.

Crawling into bed next to my wife after being on a workshift for 4 nights.

The amazing greeting I get from my dogs when I get home after being on a workshift for 4 nights (it's as if they haven't seen me in a year).

Sitting down in the reloading room to load a few hundred rounds on a dreary, overcast (or rainy) day.

Being the first one to wake up, let the dogs outside and walk around in the dimly lit house.

And I guess thats about it for now.

Very recently I've found an odd sense of humor in calling businesses located in the Crow Hill area and telling them that the liberals of the US have decided they are NOT located in Bailey, let alone Baily and that they should change their addresses immediately reflecting this sentiment. After all, liberals only show facts and "the truth", in everything they speak.

(Disclaimer, most won't get this, others will find it hysterical as f#$&. )

Thus far, the hang ups are speaking for themselves..... just sayin.

Just got home from work. One of the best feeling in the world is finally laying in bed, when my knees go "ahhhhhhhhhhhh" and I get that "holy crap - my knees are killing me" feeling. I have 10-12 hour shifts and I'm on my feet the entire time. Skiing/boarding so much when I was younger is taking it's toll (had surgery on both knees from skiing/boarding injuries).
