View Full Version : What rings for 1" scope tube on AR?
I'd like to mount a fixed 4x scope on an AR but don't want to shell out for a Larue mount, are there other acceptable solutions for getting the scope just high enough to clear Troy BUIS in the down position?
I really like the Burris PEPR mounts
PEPRs will work for your needs. But with larue you can get different spacers for the mounts. I bought an LT104 for my Nikon (1" tube) and when I got a burris I contacted them for the 30mm rings/spacers. So now my LT104 can be used for both applications.
If you go with the Burris mount, I'd avoid the one with the quick detach levers. They are a pain.
You can just buy a set of High-AR rings. Burris is about $35, Nikon about $50 and Warne about $65. If you don't need QD, or re-mount RTZ, the one piece base is just money you don't need to spend. QD in general is a waste on an AR unless you really plan on running two optics in the field. On a normal PEPR, LaRue, JP, Warne, the whole mount with scope can be removed and replaced and RTZ, at least for the Warne, LaRue and JP is usually right on. I run JP and Warne and have removed one at least 15 times over 2 years and have never had to re-zero.
Thank you all for the input, I appreciate it/
I use QD mounts on all AR optics just to make cleaning easier. I have 3 from Bobro and have never had to re zero. It's expensive, but well worth it for the convenience.

I honestly don't think I have ever cleaned a mount. :)
Nikon makes a two piece set of cantilevers if you need to move the scope forward some, and I think they run about $50.00 although I really should check before posting. I have never owned a set tho.
I myself like the cantilever QD mounts like the PEPR and ADM. If you're not in a hurry deals can be found here and on the other site.
