When mixing paint maybe. But white light is a mix of all colors. And black paint is only black because it doesn't reflect any color...hence it also is the absence of color.

-actually, black paint is black due to the presence of pigment, not absence of reflection. Light absorption causes reflective absence but I think we are somewhat veering away from NAACP speak at that point.
