It's my understanding that the UK did NOT solve their gun crime problem it is actually worse and has been on the rise for the last 10+ years. Added to the increase in violent crime with knives.

Reading bit more it seems in the last 5 or so years there has been a decline in gun crime int he UK so the 10+ years may not be correct

However the UK police have been accused of " cooking the books" on crime stats the last few years so it's hard to tell if this is a reduction in crime or creative book keeping.

Ashland used to be fantastic. Like most towns dominated by a college, things started drifting down. That and around 20 years ago Kalifornians got hip to it. 30 years ago it was great.
