I have caught a couple of the games and DAMN, these girls can play!
If you like hockey even remotely, watch a game or two.
Some really good hockey.
Can-US-Russia for the Gold medal game in any combination.
Finland is a sleeper that can bite anybody.

I catch men and women hockey games when I can, though when they are in Europe or Asia I watch less since the scores are already 12 hours old. I think USA has a chance at medals in both genders with our women having a much higher chance at gold just because men have more countries that field competitive teams. Pretty sure women's will be USA vs Canada for gold, and hard to pick in men's since bracket seeding will be a major factor in who gets to the gold medal game.

I caught the 3rd period of the US-Canada game this morning. I've never really watched women's sports (except beach volleyball), but this was awesome. I'm not sure why, but it was much more physical than I expected and the level of play was great. Too bad Team USA lost. Oh well, it's just prelims.

Team Canada had some lookers, too.

That was an awesome game this morning. I had to leave for work shortly after 8 but I kept delaying until the game was over.

Finally got to see the US Women's Hockey team this morning playing Sweden. The speed of the game is amazing. These ladies are absolutely flying. Sweden was regularly taking penalties trying to stop the onslaught.

These ladies will be tough to beat.

6-1 US v Sweden.
The US goaltender only faced 10 shots.
But kudos to the Swedes, out skated, out played, out shot, out matched they still played hard.
Good game.

No way Dave, great game and very well played. I think the missed empty netter really took the wind out of the ladies sails. In the OT the US went too hard too fast and burned out fast.
Just before the Canucks scored in OT I saw it coming, the US was frantic and lost their composure and game plan.
A tip of the glass to both teams and congrats to the Swiss ladies, 1st medal in Olympic hockey.

US was very much in control until the fluky first Canadian goal. I really thought they would pull it out - hitting the post on the rink-length clear just seemed bad Karma.

I couldn't believe it when I heard they lost. I was listening when driving around this morning, they were up 2-0 with 5:30 left in the game when I went into the office, and then later I hear that they lost. They had a good run, and losing to Canada in OT isn't anything to be ashamed of.
