Is it normal for that little bastard to sting your fingers and fling brass into the next county? I only found a few pieces of the 18 I shot......thought maybe I had some hot ammo, then I reminded myself it was winchester white box.

Normal. Swapping out some springs will make a huge difference.

Like Ray said-normal.Swapping out the springs help out a bunch.
I believe Brownells carries them,if not I'm sure Bert At BP Tactical can steer you in the right direction,or may have a fix for it himself ;)

I did some Wolff springs....heavier recoil, lighter hammer/main. Still -it's a little firecracker. I wasn't expecting that kinda recoil from an all steel gun I guess.

My wife wouldn't even try shooting it after she watched me shoot it LOL

Sounds defective maybe you should just give it to me ;) 9x18 is generally a snappy round in blowbacks even my german mak surprises me from time to time
