A friend of mine has this 12 gauge he inherited from his grandfather.

I dont have any information on the inscribed data on the gun.

The tube on the left of the barrel is a magazine tube and the short piece at the end act sort of like a first generation auto-loader. You still have to pull the expended shell out manually, but the auto feed rolls over and inserts the next shell. Then you seal the chamber and you're set to fire again.

I can't find anything on this (manufacturer, year of manufacturer, etc) and was hoping that you all could help me out with this.http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt65/theGinsue/12gaAutoLoad02.jpg

I have a receiver from the same gun. But its just the receiver unfortunately. I have no idea what kind of gun it is though.

The gun is definately an Harrington & Richardson Arms shotgun.(copied in 1968-73 in Winchester 370 youth gun) There is some other newer stuff, but not old enough to look like that.
I don't believe the auto-tube magazine was a factory option.

The thumb barrel break with the hammer is unique and built before 1942 and possibly as old as the late 1880's in the models 3 through 8.

It is not the model 48 made through 1957 because those had auto ejection.

Don't know who made the tube mag converion... can't find any info.

Have you tried posting this on shotgun world forums?

Not yet. I'm not a member there (yet) so I thought I'd pick the brains of everyone here first.

Anyone with additional info, please chime in.

I just found this out today:
I got from my Grandpa. He calls it a Texas Ranger although I don't think it says it on the gun anywhere. He bought it back in 1953 for $35 in nothing but change that he borrowed from his boss at the time. He says the previous owner was and older guy that claimed he was in the movies possibly a movie extra. He said that after my grandpa payed him that the guy was running all around town excited that he had some money to spend he kept saying "I got money!". The location was on the Bill Williams river just above Parker California. Pretty good memory for a guy that's 80 years old. He also says the stock has been added because of the cheek rest that's on it.
