http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/fbi-report-early-2013-crime-decrease-coincides-gun-sales-boom/ "The FBI released the Preliminary Seminannual Uniform Crime Report (http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2013/preliminary-semiannual-uniform-crime-report-january-june-2013) for the first six months of 2013 on Tuesday. According to the statistics (http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/fbi-releases-preliminary-semiannual-crime-statistics-for-2013) found in the report, all of the offenses in the violent crime category—including murder, forcible rape, assault, and robbery—showed a significant decrease in early 2013 from the same period in 2012. This drop in violent crime coincided with one of the largest booms for gun sales in recent history." "The FBI report does not speculate on any causes for the drop of crime in early 2013, and admits that some data may be incomplete. Some gun rights advocates, however, point out the decrease in crime coincided with a surge in gun sales. In just the first five months of 2013, law enforcement agencies processed more than 10 million background checks. To put that in perspective, only 14.4 million background checks were processed in the whole of 2010. New gun owners also contributed to the sales boom, with the National Shooting Sports Foundation reporting in a survey (http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/gun-retailers-see-sales-boom-from-first-time-buyers/) that 25.8 percent of customers in late 2012 and early 2013 were first-time buyers. Overall, gun sales have been in an upswing in recent years, but experts point to recent gun control legislation for spurring on sales"

This makes sense to me, more armed people = more sheep dogs, and less unguarded sheep. Not too hard to understand, unless you are an idiot that believes that the 911 operator has magical powers to save you over the phone line when you need help.

Makes sense so it will never be reported by major media outlets.

You have clearly been drinking all day and are slurring your keyboard. More guns = more deaths. Duh.

911, what is your emergency?

Someone just broke into my house.

911, I will send a unit right over.

You can also send over the Coroner.

Couple interesting stats if you dig into the tables from the site-
Forceable rape was down a huge amount compared to the previous 4 sets of years. Also burglary and property crime down by a significant portion. Arson I am guessing would be more prone to large fluctuations due to it's lower occurrence than the other major crimes but without seeing the total counts it is hard to say that.
Without really having access to the data to look deeply at it, I think that property crime and rape drops is pretty telling of what occurring with criminal group think mentality. There are a lot of dumb criminals out there but likewise, there are plenty of smart ones and I bet a lot decided to hedge different bets with the massive increase in firearms sales. Those people go after easy targets...not hard ones.

Correlation v. Causation gentlemen.

True. While the data is insufficient to establish causation, it is telling in countering "more guns, more crime" from the antis.
