View Full Version : Thomas run for Sheriff in Douglas County
I searched for this topic but did not find it.
Does anyone know Lora Thomas' stance on NFA forms? She is running for Sheriff in Douglas county and I would like to know before I vote.
I emailed her and am waiting for a reply, if you know her stance on NFA sign offs, please let me know.
Got back an answer....
Hello,
I will not do anything to prohibit law-abiding citizens from having access to firearms.
Lora Thomas
That is a political answer with no indication as to whether she will sign Form's....
I emailed her back for clarification on Form 1's and 4's
Not to derail the thread, but related, Undersheriff Spurlock told me on the phone he will sign off on NFA forms and let the background check make the determination.
Just hit her back:
So are you saying that you will sign Form 1's for short barreled rifles and Form 4's for sound suppressors?

That is fantastic news, thank you!
(not a derail by any means, very helpful info)
No reply in the last 24 hours, if I dont hear back I will be sure to email her back and let her know spurlock who is also running for the position, WILL sign these forms...
Not that what they say means much. Weaver told me before he was elected that he would sign off as well. Two days after he was elected his tune changed.

I agree with you, but maybe she will say no off the bat so would help make the decision that much easier!

I would be highly suspicious of an undersheriff that worked for Weaver for the last 8 years is going to just start signing for 4s and 1s. Show me a cop that says they like internal change and and I'll show you a liar and a politician.

Yeah, her mail pamphlet says she is all about changing from the "Good Ol Boys" regime....I am also extremely skeptical...but would like to see her answer, eventhough it will most likely be a lie
Full disclosure. Once in a while I work with Undersheriff Tony Spurlock's wife and because of that I have shot with him at the DC Sheriff training range. I know him a little bit, not a lot, but I believe him. Take that for what it's worth. He's a pretty big 2A guy. By the way the simulator they have is sweet.

That range isn't just DC's and neither is the EST trainer.

Correct, I was told a lot of agencies train out there, even federal.

True. It is a joint venture between Arapahoe and Douglas with the sheriff's association running things. All agencies who use the ranges pay into it yearly and have space in the storage shed for supplies. My agency uses it monthly.

This is true, I have been out there target shooting with a specific Gov Agency...I wish they allowed individuals....only ever been once.
