I am considering one of these for a 700P in .308 that I have. I currently have a SWFA SS 10x fixed on it but was going to move that to a 20" .556 White Oak Armament Varmint I have coming. Do you guys have an opinion on these scopes? I believe they are new for about $900, but I have been shopping the used market for them, which there seem to be quite a few popping up on Snipers Hide. Are there other scopes you recommend in a similar price point? Thanks for any input/information/ experiences you have.

I have aThe SFP version and have been very happy with it. The other one I'd look into is the swfa ss3-15 and get a set of zero stop shims from tim k and skullybones

Have you looked through the SS 3-15? If so how do the two compare with glass quality?
Running the same scope on my 700. Very happy with it. Glass is good for the price, repeatable and turrets are GTG.

I actually have a like new in box Viper HS LR 4-16X with XLR reticle (MOA) I was contemplating selling. I bought both it and a 6-24X and without much sacrifice am using the 6-24X on my SPR build for Rocky Mountain Steel Quest.
The XLR reticle is great, very much like a HORUS but less busy. The same reticle is coming to the PST series in a few months.

Yeah, I'd say it's on par with the Vortex, not quite as many bells and whistles but very good glass for the money, accurate tracking, and an overall good package. That's not to take away from the Viper, I've got 2 vipers and 1 razor and am very happy with them. The only thing differenciating them IMO is the price. Since Tim K and Skullybones came up with the zero stop shims and SS has approved them for use without voiding the warranty, there's no real shortcoming in the SS unless you need illumination. Also to be considdered is that the SS does not come with a Sun Shade but is available for $20. So for essentially the same features minus illumination in the SS you're looking at $740 (shade and shims added) as compared to $900 for the Viper PST FFP.
Both offer good customer service but I'd give the edge on warranty to Vortex.

I picked up a used SWFA 3-15. Thanks for your advice and info. Also bought the zero stop from Tim K. Thanks again.
