My new carry piece I just got today at G&G guns (got a great deal and great service)
This is my first 1911 hoping it shoots as good it feels. For a newbie to 1911 any suggestions on getting used to it from a glock? Only thing I've noticed is that the slide release is very hard to operate almost impossible with one hand.

Most standard 1911 slide releases are difficult to manipulate with your strongside hand, unless you've got a Yeti sized thumb. Can't really give you any tips on shooting it compared to a Glock as you'll have to figure that out on your own. Your strongside thumb position while shooting (under safety or over safety) would be the only possible difference between the two. If using +P loads with this platform, some say to use 185gr bullets as opposed to 230gr.
Break it in with factory ball ammo then try some +P and monitor the marks on the frames VIS and barrel lower lugs for contact. I'm sure everything will be just fine. I've never cleaned a new 1911 before shooting it and never had any problems. Ironically, my wife's HK P30 thought it was a single shot rather than an auto loader without first cleaning and lubing.

Finally got to shoot it today and it was awesome very controllable and very accurate with 230 gr ball ammo and 185 gr critical defense http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/06/vusemy7a.jpg
