I have a complete parts kit for a Bulgi AK-47 and I also have enough parts for 922. I have a triangular folding stock that I want to add. With that in mind what would be the best receiver to go with since all I have is a flat?

Do you have the rear trunnion with the side folder?

Is it a bulgy ak47 kit? If so those are for milled receivers and don't have trunnions since they work with a milled receiver. Also your triangle folder, did you just buy the stock or did you buy a stock with the trunnion and latch parts? Better yet, post some pictures of what you have if you could

you can trim your flat to accept the folder trunnion or buy a khyber pass flat from ak builder.

also, it appears that you have a romy "g" kit with a bulgy folder.

should make a nice piece of hardware. good luck with the build.

If you are looking for a finished receiver, Nodak spud sells what that you need: Model NDS-1KP with plate
If you are wanting to bend your own flat, ak-builder has a 7.62 flat with side folder cutouts: 7.62 Sidefolder Khyber Pass Flat

That's a Romanian "g" kit so that will work great with the folder and I see you have the folder trunnion. I can't tell but do you have the read trunnion latch and front latch for that folder assembly? Also the front trunnion needs to be modified for the front latch to lock the stock in the folded position. I have done the mod on an ak74 trunnion. Bobby z (zteknik) has done it on romy g's I'm surprised he haven't piped up yet. Yes you will need to either mod your flat or gt a side folder akm flat from ak builder or a Nodak 7.62 receiver that's set up for the side folder like the posts before said.

I've done a few Khybers with Rommy Gs
You have to drill the front latch hole in the flat and the front trunnion. The trick with drilling that hole is that the spot you need to drill through on the front trunnion is almost exactly on the step of the trunnion-turn it upside down and you'll see what I'm talking about.I had someone weld it out a bit so it has a flat spot to drill on.In after thought I think you probably could could put a bit of jb weld on the step let it set up then drill all the jb weld needs to do is just give you a flat surface to drill on,it doesn't have any structural integrity.the spring in the pin is what really holds it stogether.
I had on one build when I was drilling my bit broke so I took one of my 1/8th diamond bur bits and drilled through it.Which also makes me think you can probably start a hole with that instead of even welding or using jb weld.

This is what I used as a print to mark out for the front latch

If you need a hand give me a pm and maybe we can get together and I can walk you through it.

Awesome advice as usual! I'm still doing research on exactly what to do with this guy but off hand does anyone know if THIS rail will fit my Romy kit? Thanks again fellas!

Or you could just skip all that front hook crap and actually be able to get the stock open without sliceing your fingers.

Drill press? A center drill will work ok and if you have the rifle secured well you can use a mill.

I have a drill press, but unfortunately the head walks a bit on it and I have to try and tighten it up some.
That will have to be my next project before I really screw up something by using it the way it is.

I really wish I had the room for the mill in the T.P. That would be the cat's meow!!
