A U.S. appeals court ordered YouTube on Wednesday to take down an anti-Muslim film that sparked violent riots in parts of the Middle East and death threats to the actors.
The decision by a divided three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco reinstated a lawsuit filed against YouTube by an actress who appeared briefly in the 2012 video that led to rioting and deaths because of its negative portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad.

Pretty clear attack on the First Amendment. I also think it is funny there is no mention of Benghazi in the article either, way to dumb down the news AP.

Freedom of speech only applies so long as you don't offend a Muslim.

The ruling is that she has copyright since she thought she was doing something other than the final product? Does that mean those people who appeared in Sacha Cohen (or whatever his name is)'s movie can claim copyright too?

Is it really so hard to get the whole story? It had to do with copyright infringement.

No not really. It sounds like the court i interpreting copyright law their own way with precedence that goes against it.

Eugene Volokh had a different take on it. And normally I respect Alex Kosinski's opinions.

Thanks for the link. When i read about this weeks ago it stated that she had done a model release but it says the film maker could not provide proof of this in the court document.

I really can't blame any 'actor' involved in that movie for wanting it taken down, that's a really poor use of film right there!

I watched the whole thing and had no idea what was going on, or what anyone was talking about for most of the movie.
