View Full Version : $100K in ammo stolen

I just saw on ch7 that OD Green Supply had a trailer stolen from behind their shop with allegedly $100K worth of ammo in it.
Looked like a large motorcycle/snowmobile type trailer.
Doesn't seem like a good business model to store overstock in such a fashion.
Keep an eye on CL and AL....

In od green terms that's like 4 boxes of 22lr, 100 rounds of 7.62, and a case of 00 buck shot.

[ROFL2] Exactly
I'm thinking Gun Show fodder, with the tables paid for by the insurance company.

I get a kick out of their ad on KHOW when they say they ALWAYS have ammo-mmmm maybe the price keeps it on the shelves. [facepalm]

Ain't nothing in that shop cheap, not even their mag 'repair' kits.
Trailer was probably valued at $80K according to "their" blue book value

Just thinking. $100,000 of ammo. At a price of 50 cents per round for 9 mm, that is 200,000 rounds. 1,000 rounds in a 50 cal. can weighs 40 pounds. That is 8,000 pounds or 4 tons.
They said a White Tahoe was involved. Even though White Tahoes can carry more weight than blue or red Tahoes, 4 tons is more than Chevrolet rates them even with the heavy duty Towing Package.
Maybe the News got the value wrong?
I didn't know Rich Wyatt was involved with OD Green.

It was in a trailer. I'm pretty sure a Tahoe can pull 8k pounds.

Good Point!
Here is the Tahoe tow rating.
Don't know how much weight to add to the rating for it being a White Tahoe
Weight Carrying Hitch: 5,000 lbs / 600 lb tongue weight
Weight Distributing Hitch: 12,000 lbs / 1,500 lb tongue weight

What kind of an ass-hat stores ammo outside before selling it to retail customers?

The kind of ass hat that is sitting on a shit ton of ammo because they burned all of their customers with their pricing policies during the panic, that now faces a horrible overstock problem on overpriced ammo.

Plus the weight of an enclosed trailer that can handle 8k is probably going to be in the 3k-3500 lb range alone and that's considering a LIGHT trailer

Exactly my stance in post #5.
If I were their insurer, I would be following the tracks on this at all upcoming gs's, especially Tulsa.

Bah ha haha!
Let's just say they think it still May of last year. They always have 22 in stock, but that's because it's 20+ cents a round.

I will agree with you if/when they get rolled over by their own trailer when convicted of insurance fraud.

I would probably agree with the insurance angle, except I am really hoping for karma.

Three questions:
1 - Is that $100,000 the price of the ammo that they would purchase it at?
2 - Is that $100,000 the price of the ammo that they would sell it at?
3 - Is that $100,000 the price of the ammo that they would sell it at in this ridiculously high market?
$100,000 worth of ammo is different amounts in regard to those three points. Either way, who would store important/valuable things in a trailer that can obviously be taken away so easily? Dumbass

One question: Does their policy specify that goods are insured for replacement value or actual cash value? For insurance anyway. For reporting? Who knows. Heh

I hope its current market replacement value so they loose money but i can only wish.
How overpriced is their ammo? I've never been in there.
During the panic they were the same as cheaper then dirt and lucky gunner. You could not pay me to shop there so i have no idea where they are at now.
Where is this place? Never heard of it AFAIK.

AMMO banner and OPEN signs are still hanging this morning. Thought about stopping in to make some wise crack questions about ammo in stock etc. But I didn't. Gave my $ to 5280.
I hear the horror stories about their price gouging so I went in once just to see for myself.
They probably thought I was crazy. Just looking at their prices and laughing out loud to myself.
This was back right after the announcement of our new laws. You could still pick up Pmags at most local shops for under $20 (Bowers, Jensens, etc.) but these guys were asking $80 for them. Pretty sure a thousand round case of 5.56 was close to $1000.
Hopefully their shady business practices bit only put these clowns out of business but maybe land the owners in a place where they will be Bubba's new playmate.

I went in there right after Shady Hook. They had 2 rifles in the store. A WASR10 that the Tapco fairy had thrown up on for $2200.00 and a used DPMS LR308 Sportical(bare bones rifle) for $1899.00.
BuhBye...

Those were buy one get one prices. On a serious note. I heard an ad for 223 on the radio that was an actual decent price. I thought about it for half a beat, then said eff them.

The cash value estimate has been revised, since they found the empty trailer. The rifle racks in back gave it away. It's now $5 K of ammo.
Here's the trailer / facsimile of https://sp2.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608040074939270414&pid=15.1

I think they're mostly there to trick people into stopping there before going to 5280. The guys in there are usually high and might types. They still were open yesterday when I drove by to drop off dry cleaning.
