I'm considering a Troy Alpha extended hand guard to go on an 18" upper. The Alpha was my first choice because they're supposidly very light weight and frankly, I like the look.
Ideally I'd like to maybe have a BUIS, but I definitely need a sling attachment and most importantly a bi-pod on the handguard. I'm trying to build a 6.8 that I could use for hunting and I do like my bi-pods. I'm more than curious if the Troy Alpha is robust enough to not flex at the barrel nut attachment point and impact POI. Anyone have any experience with these extended length Alpha's?
If the Alpha is not the way to go, I'll probably just go with a cheap and blah Bushmaster/WOA or the like aluminum free float tube, heavy but it should be rigid enough.
Frankly the Troy Alpha is more than I care to spend, so I can't go with an even more pricy tube.
Thoughts?
