I know most here don't like RMGO and many say they wish there was another local entity that they could support. Well now there is.

Not an awful lot of info, or effort for that matter put into the web presence to make most normal and sane people comfortable giving up money and more importantly credit card numbers.

To whomever is running this program: you need to do a much better job making this something official rather than hodge-podge to gain public confidence.

Move info on their main site. These are the same people who headed up the recalls.

Oh hell yea! Good to see.
I was at that boardmoor meeting and knocked on doors for three weekends. First time I ever got 'political.' What those guys pulled off was amazing. While still a fan of the NRA I think they are to strategic and lost the tactical edge. All politics are local and I think groups like this are the future to fight the gun grabbers.

Why just the second amendment? If its Colorado based why not include the Colorado version of the second amendment? Article 2 section 13 IIRC.

Maybe because www.coloradoarticle2sections13.com seemed kinda long winded and nobody would know what they are talking about? Just a guess... ;)

Yes these are some of the people that headed the recalls and they are a great grass root organization. At the very least sign up for their newsletter so you know whats going on.
Here is the last one the sent me:

HB14-1164 Returns to the HouseHouse Bill 1164, dubbed by Colorado Republicans as “The Voter Fraud Election Act”, passed the Senate’s third reading on Monday, February 11th. The bill expands the removal or reduction of residency, identity verification and oversight requirement introduced in last year’s HB 1303 to non-partisan municipal, special district and school district elections. Amendments were approved, requiring an additional vote in the House before it can be sent to Governor Hickenlooper for signing.

Read more about objections to the bill’s provisions at the Citizen Center’s website (http://t.ymlp236.net/qwalaummbsalauuuaiauju/click.php).

Castle Rock Victory
Thanks in part to a huge show of support and testimony from Coloradans speaking out in defense of their Second Amendment rights, Castle Rock has lifted its restrictions on open carry on city property. We would like to thank “David I.” for alerting us to the initial vote and helping us get the word out to our subscribers and social media followers.

More details are available at the Denver Post (http://t.ymlp236.net/qqataummbsazauuuatauju/click.php).

Report on the Meet & Greet for AdamsCo Sheriff
Acting on our alert, a subscriber attended the 1/25/14 “meet and greet” with Adams County Sheriff candidate Mark Nicastle and was favorably impressed, reporting back the following:

“His platform is based on being a servant leader, working for the people.… He said a few words about his main ideas about what he would like to change.

“First, he would like to reduce medical benefits for prisoners (such as dental services), since many aren't there for very long anyway. In addition, he would like to start work gangs with the prisoners, picking up garbage, cleaning graffiti, etc. Apparently there have been some political maneuverings over how many prisoners the County would accept from different cities, such as Thornton. He wants to end the quota system that [current AdamsCo Sheriff] Darr has in place.

“Second, he said that when someone asks if he is for the second amendment, he doesn't qualify it, he just says, ‘yes’. He said that there are many officers who have been willing to volunteer time to clearing up the backlog of CCW permits, and he would use them. He said they would cost half as much (retired, or off the clock officers) as it does now, and he said he thought he could get the wait time down to 30 days. I want to follow up with him to see if that means 30 day wait to apply… or 30 day wait on the application itself. I also want to follow up on whether reduced cost to the Sheriff’s office will mean reduced cost to citizens, since the money they charge is supposed to be actual costs incurred.”

We will be following up with candidate Nicastle as well as reaching out to other candidates. In fact, keep reading….

What Makes a Good Sheriff?
As we said above, we will be providing a survey to candidates in sheriffs’ races throughout the state to see where they stand on citizens’ Second Amendment rights. While we have our own ideas of what questions to ask, we’d like to hear from you. As we’ve seen with the opposition to the raft of laws forced on us last year, our sheriffs truly are our last line of defense against legislative overreach and it is not a position to be filled lightly. What qualities would you look for in a “good sheriff”? What questions would you ask a candidate for the office, given the opportunity? Drop us a line at contact@colorado2a.org by Friday, February 22nd, and let us know. We’d like to have our surveys mailed out - and posted online for your own use during “meet and greets” – by March 1st.

Castle Rock Training Opportunity in April
As though the open carry victory wasn’t enough reason for Castle Rock to celebrate, our friends at Carry On, Colorado have advised us that Kathy Jackson, firearms instructor and author of the “Cornered Cat” guide and website (http://t.ymlp236.net/qyadaummbsazauuuarauju/click.php), will be offering a series of co-ed concealed carry classes April 4th-6th.

See Carry On's website (http://t.ymlp236.net/ysafaummbsaiauuuafauju/click.php) for more details.

Bill Watch
We cannot say that we are surprised by legislative events of the past two weeks but we are disappointed. Senate and House Democrats have again chosen to follow their party’s anti-rights platform and kill each and every gun rights bill to enter the committees they control.

Senate Bill 14-038 – This bill would have eliminated the governor's authority to suspend or limit the sale, dispensing, or transportation of firearms during a state of disaster emergency. KILLED IN COMMITTEE ALONG PARTY LINES

Senate Bill 14-090 – This bill would have removed the background check requirement for firearm transfers between step-relations. KILLED IN COMMITTEE ALONG PARTY LINES

Senate Bill 14-094 – This bill would have repealed the background checks and associate fees for firearms transfers between private citizens, mandated in 2013. KILLED IN COMMITTEE ALONG PARTY LINES

Senate Bill 14-100 – This bill would have repealed the so-called “Large-capacity Ammunition Magazine Ban” forced on Colorado in 2013. KILLED IN COMMITTEE ALONG PARTY LINES

House Bill 14-1041 – This bill would have allowed law-abiding citizens to carry a concealed handgun without a permit (“Constitutional carry” as is currently implemented in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, Arkansas and Oklahoma). KILLED IN COMMITTEE ALONG PARTY LINES

House Bill 14-1063 – Sponsored by Representatives Everett, Buck, Holbert, Humphrey, Nordberg, Saine and Wright and Senators Grantham, Harvey, Lambert, Lundberg, Marble and Renfroe, this bill extends the right to use deadly force against an intruder under certain conditions to include owners, managers, and employees of businesses.

This bill is scheduled for hearing by the State, Veterans and Military Affairs “kill committee” on Monday, February 17th. It should also be noted that the House calendar states “Testimony on HB 14-1063 will be limited to individuals who signed up to testify on February 5, 2014.”

House Bill 14-1097 – Sponsored by Representative Navarro, this bill would establish a state sales and use tax exemption for firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories sold on the first Friday and Saturday in August of this year and the next two years, if sold by a participating vendor.
http://www.leg.state.co.us/CLICS/CLICS2014A/csl.nsf/fsbillcont3/CB17680A568F5CB187257C30000652C3?Open&file=1097_01.pdf (http://t.ymlp236.net/yeafaummbsagauuuanauju/click.php)

This bill is scheduled for a hearing by the Finance committee on Wednesday, February 19th at 1:30pm, room LSB-A.

House Bill 14-1151 – This bill would have repealed the 2013 prohibition on transfers of ammunition magazines between law-abiding citizens. KILLED IN COMMITTEE ALONG PARTY LINES

House Bill 14-1157 - This bill would have allowed heads of schools and school districts to determine for themselves if staff holding valid concealed carry permits could carry their firearms onto school grounds. KILLED IN COMMITTEE ALONG PARTY LINES

House Bill 14-1166 – Sponsored by Representative Vigil, this bill – the only one submitted by a House Democrat – was passed out of committee and has already gone through second reading in the House. If passed, it will allow any sheriff to renew an emergency carry permit rather than require the issuing sheriff to do so.

You Ask, We Deliver
We began C2AA with the notion that we would have “subscribers” with whom we could network, share information and organize. To our surprise, though, many of you responded with, “That’s nice. But how do we become members?” We had not anticipated moving in this direction so soon out of the gate but it’s also our goal to be responsive to the needs of Colorado’s shooting community. We are currently establishing the required accounts and infrastructure to accept membership and expect to have it live before March 1st. We’ll certainly be sending out an alert when we’re ready to roll but please continue to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates along the way.

Thank you, sincerely, for all the support and eagerness you’ve shown in helping us take back our great state of Colorado.

ETA: I had to really search for this email. They do not fill your inbox up with shit like RMGO does.

What are your plans? I see this on your site:

interview candidates stepping forward during this most crucial election season for our state
survey and vet those incumbents who believe they can make a difference in helping us preserve and expand our rights
monitor several ballot initiatives that threaten those rights and organize resistance should they be approved for public vote
continue projects already begun with several Colorado legislators to create real transparency in state government and to remove the estrangement that has developed between the citizenry and the body of government hired by us to represent us.

Are you just going to keep it grassroots and hope the citizens of Colorado make can make a difference when there is a call to arms or do you plan on more then that?

I think an important question for us here on the forum is what sets C2AA apart from RMGO?

Welcome to COAR15 we are happy to have you here.

"Free Colorado" is NO BS and let's just say very instrumental in founding C2AA along w/ one of the TRUE LEADERS that were TOTALLY responsible for the Morse recall... Yeah, he was one of "those guys"!

Support at will, these folks WILL FIGHT, be "evil" and RMGO/Dudley can FOAD... [Mad] (RMGO was "opposition party" to the recalls; nearly as bad as the RINO-establishment... Read, research and heed!)

B2

Yeah, while we're at it, consider sending some $/beer money to Victor Head in Pueblo... He and his brother along w/ this coalition of folks also got Giron booted: https://rally.org/headforclerk

One candidate/one election/one county/one city/one state at a time... "We're surrounded on 'all' sides at this point!"

Hello…another C2AA board member chiming in. I see my compatriot is already here. As he said, I’ll be happy to answer any questions regarding C2AA or my experience with the recalls.

To answer this question:

I think an important question for us here on the forum is what sets C2AA apart from RMGO?

We will obviously have things in common with RMGO. We both agree that “shall not be infringed” means what it says and we will both work to ensure 2nd Amendment rights are not only protected but expanded. We will also work with the legislature, endorse candidates, etc.

To that end, we are working to create a community of like-minded citizens and organizations. We have already found allies in 1 Million Moms Against Gun Control, Carry On Colorado, the Colorado Appleseed chapter, and more. We have found folks in Castle Rock that let us know about the repeal on open carry and helped them spread the word. We have found folks in Adams county that have given us a heads up on the upcoming sheriff’s race – FYI, there is a round table coming up for Adams County sheriff’s candidates this Friday that I will be attending. For more info on the round table: http://www.colorado2a.org/archives/344

The thing that sets us apart from RMGO, or many other pro-gun rights organizations is our focus on education and networking, rather than lobbying. We definitely want to keep this grassroots, but not just when there is a “call to arms”. If all we did was call to arms, it would mean our back was against the wall again. We want to create a network that is engaged to prevent being backed against the wall. This means we need people from all corners of the state who will involve themselves at a local level and share information with us. From there, we can disseminate it to all of our members, facebook followers, etc.

That’s the core of this effort: working together and helping the like-minded in their pursuit of liberty.

I hope that answered the question. Thanks for the time and thanks for having us.
