I can't begin to explain how awesome last night was. My brother, for a dual birthday (my mom and I- even though my b-day isn't until next month) got us 6th row tickets by the tunnel near the visitor goal... He had no idea when buying the tickets that it was Military Night, and wow, that was something special. It sure helped the Avs won 6-3 against Tampa Bay. We got there early enough to watch the warm up as the Avs donned multi-cam pattern jerseys, and then during the national anthem (which I get chills every time it's sung) they had several members of the various branches of armed forces stand at center ice with Jake Schroeder and salute. I had no problem standing when Alan Roach, twice, asked all current and former service members to stand and be recognized to the tune of the entire Pepsi Center cheering and clapping. It just reminded me that despite all the BS, most people still vehemently support our military.
Anyway, just thought I'd share- it was a pretty cool experience. But made me think, I hope I'm not alone in getting the chills when our national anthem is sung...

I want a flag this big to fly outside my house someday...

Team USA's very own Paul Stastny

Ryan O'Reilly got the first star of the game for 1 goal and 1 assist.

Sweet! That was a good game. I think against the Lightning was one of our first losses of the year, so it was good to see the Avs win this one.

My brother and I discussed that it might not have been possible to pull off the win had Steve Stamkos played.

Congrats! Hockey games are fun.

I've heard rumors of an outdoor game at Coors field. Now that would be awesome.

That is awesome.

I think it would be cool to have them play the military tribute hockey game with NVGs and the lights out, an IR puck. Of course all the fans would have to be given NV gear. :)

The Stadium Series... there's talk but nothing set in stone yet- maybe we'll get one next season! Wouldn't that be fun (if we don't get dumped on like what happened Friday night in Pittsburgh)

We were at the game as well, and I like you didn't know it was Military Appreciation Night. It was my 3-year-old daughter's first Avs game and we enjoyed the game as well as the tributes throughout. After one of the video messages from a soldier they showed his family in the stands and they were crying. My girl asked me why they were crying and I told her it was because their daddy was a soldier and they really miss him. And I gave her an extra-tight squeeze.

Were you in section 106 by chance? That's where we were, row 11. Your pictures look close to the same area.

Jmaier and I went to the game and sat right behind the Bolts penalty box. I had no idea it was military appreciation night. I just happened to be wearing my U.S.Army hoodie. Before the game we sat outside talking to the E.O.D guys. My son is trying to strike into a E.O.D slot for the navy so I wanted some more info straight from the horses mouth.
