Some investors were appealing to him not to invest in unprofitable "green" projects, and to disclose the costs of those they were engaged in. He responded angrily with "If you want me to do things only for ROI [return on investment] reasons, you should get out of this stock.”

I've long thought Apple products are junky and overpriced, so not like this news affects me. I'm curious what effects this'll have; right now they're down 0.37% for today.

The entire market is down right now - I don't think this is going to make much difference on their stock price.

Someone needs to tell him that he has a job to do and spending shareholder money on projects with negative return is not it.
I'm curious how many other smaller companies could survive by doing things that did not have positive ROI... 30B in the bank can hide many things.

Well that's why they are charging even more now and looking for options to turn additional profit, such as the change in all their plugs and they charge for any type of customer service support. I'm sure there's a lot more too.

Used to be a great company but now they are getting spanked again in functionality by their competition in nearly every segment. I know I'm done buying i-shit

ROI is the ONLY reason to invest in anything. He sounds like a one-worlder, can't we all get along, weenie, retard, fuckwit moron.

I wonder if that jackass understands that ALL of the products his company generates use fossil fuels directly or indirectly and so do ALL of the consumers of Apple products.

If "green" were profitable venture capitalists would be all over it and the government wouldn't be propping up failures like Solyndra.

Idiots.

If Apple is so concerned about "the world" why are their products made in China. The communists in China have MURDERED between 50 and 100 million of their own citizens. The Chinese are some of worst polluters on the planet, remember the air pollution during the Olympics there? Why didn't Apple build factories in Africa and give developing nation(s) a boost?

Now that decision was based on ROI :)

I can't believe idiot Tim Cook said stuff like that. IF HE DID, I didn't know he was THAT stupid.
He should worry about his share prices, and innovations, rather than climate and geothermal change. This is why turd like Carl Icahn are actively telling AAPL to just buy back shares.

Disclaimer: I do not own any Apple products nor shares. I might initiate PUT position near 72 hours.

I was/am thinking the same.

Rants - disregard those.
Deeds - pay attention to those. -Apple, Inc., (2013 profits: $41.7B).

Finding a long-term holder of Apple stock, that isn't overjoyed with their ROI is nigh unto impossible.

+1. I'll you what, I'm pretty pissed right now that I sold 400 shares of Apple stock 15 years ago (I think it was $36/share then) in order to pay for my Chrysler (although it was a pleasure to be able to tell the salesman I prepared to write a check for the whole amount if the price was right).

Cannot fault you on that, 15 years ago they were nearly dead.

Aloha_Shooter

They were in an okay position 15 years ago but I'm not nearly as pleased with the car when I consider the opportunity cost of that Chrysler to be $250K.

Absolute ROI is not the only reason to invest in something... there are many other things to consider.

Ultimately, investing is personal.

The science is never "settled". We just come to understandings that either hold up...or they don't. It's all there to be disproved by reproducible scientific evidence.

Models are not science and none of them predicted what are the observations now being realized.

A true scientist is a skeptic by nature. They demand proof.

This anthropogenic climate change is pseudoscience at best, a tool to destroy economies and enable governments to reduce freedoms of the people at its worst.

Hey, Tim, make your shiny i-gadgets and shut your pie hole.

Me thinks Tim has seen the writing on the wall concerning his job and wants to enhance his resume to get a cushy democrat appointment.

Hillary Clinton "Venezuela is a democracy and no one can dispute that"
Uncle Joe Biden, Al Gore, et al, "the science is settled!"

Do I see a pattern here?
It's so helpful to know what to think, I was getting a headache doing it all for myself.

I second this. My old-ass iPhone is doing weird shit after the latest "upgrade" which sucked ass. I've had iPhones since they first came out, but the Samsung Note II or III looks pretty good.

Ahhh but you are locked in pretty solidly. Any applications you bought will not transfer off iProducts.
