I put a cree 450 lumen led drop in in my surefire 951 and would like some rechargable batteries for it I bought a big 18650 rechargable but it's just a little too big does anyone know of any GOOD rechargable batteries in either 123a size or 17650? Or does anyone think I should just drill the tube for the 18650 since the performance shits on 123a?

A single 18650 is 3.7v, versus a nominal 6v for 2x CR123a in series...

But with an LED extra voltage over rated voltage doesn't really add additional brightness. So our depends what voltage your LED peaks at.

Hmm so two rechargable 123s is gonna be the way to go?

the thing about rechargeable 123s is they don't last very long at all. obviously the savings is there, but they don't have the capacity.

I'd be happy with 30 min I just wanna be able to use it without worrying about buying more batteries all the time

It's one of the many reasons we got away from anything that uses 123's.

you probably know this, but if you buy in bulk you can get the 123s for less than a buck. Like funkymonkey said rechargeable in this size are less than great. All my rechargable are now the longer Li ion 3.5 volts. Sorta the standard in Li ion, the batteries last 2 hours with a ton of output.

also, the rechargeable battery that's the same diameter of the 123 (and twice as long) is the 17670

I've always had good luck with AW batteries in 18650. here's the 17670:

no idea what it'd do to the drop-in.
