When you moved into your house did you have it blessed?
My house was new, so I thought I didn't need to do it, but the other night when taking a whiz the light switch turned off. Thinking it was a breaker, I reached for the light switch just to be sure, and found it in the down position. Something turned it off. Creepy shit..

Does blessing your house save you money on an electrician?

I was going to say.. the light switched must be built by either a sweat shop or unionized workers.. No other explanation!
Are you Asian? Alot of Asian cultures believe in the supernatural.
You should hear some stories from my Hmong friend's son. Seeing a little black baby playing in their house, shit moving, etc. I won't step foot in there.
I have kids and sometimes the toys go off in the middle of the night.... yeah i grab my bedside gun and hide under the covers. You can always shoot a BG, but it will go right through casper.
Creepy shit happens even in NEW houses.
At my wife's work, (which is a Richy Rich nursing home for people with dementia / Alzheimer) the residents pass on from there all the time, the owners of the nursing home have it "Blessed" regularly. The stories she tells are, well..................spooky.
[Coffee]
I never saw any real ghost stuff in my life and always wanted to. Well, I always wanted to with two people, not by myself. OP, your wife probably walked by and shut the light off on when you weren't looking.
Personally, I do not believe in this stuff but the "Five Crazy Ladies" smudged my shop. Figured it couldn't hurt. They said there was a lot of bad juju there.
The original owner, of the house I live in, buried his wife in the backyard. She really liked the place. Yeah for living in the mountains! Anything odd that happens we blame her. There have been a lot fewer "happenings" since I moved in.
My wife is convinced we have a nice ghost that lives in our house. She calls him 'Bob'. He turns off lights, closes / opens doors, steals socks, and runs through the attic at night.
That said. I'm an ordained minister. I'll bless your house for you with whatever ritual you think you need. I even take payment in ammo.

we purchased a new to us home about three years ago, everyone in the family see things move around in the house, unexplained shadows etc. I am not superstitious at all nor do i believe in ghosts, but this house has me thinking twice about the reality of it.
I don't believe in ghosts but I have seen a few over the years. Pretty spooky stuff.

Well...
Never mind...[Muaha]
Mother in Law died in the basement. that was ok.
Nope, never really believed in ghosts or hauntings after about 15. Ghost Hunters shows haven't helped to make me believe either. Kind of like alien visits, I'll need either personal experience or hard physical evidence before I start to believe.

I blessed my house once I got the toilets working. (Bought a foreclosure and had some renovation work to do ...)

It baffles me that we know that hallucinations can occur temporarily from something as simple as slight dehydration, yet still assume that momentary lapses in judgement or attention are proof positive of ghosts, religious spirits, ethereal beings, and all other sorts of imaginary distortions.
And I'm not talking about 'oh, there's a chicken riding a bicycle' LSD hallucinations. I mean stuff as simple as thinking you saw something on the counter, when you were really just tired and perceived one object as another. So maybe that "ghost" was you finishing a 10 hour day and misconstruing that glare from another vehicle as a spirit. Leaving the backdoor open can create a draft that will push a cabinet closed. If the kids jump off the couch in the other room, it can send a wave through the floor into the kitchen and knock over your empty cup. Physics is as miniscule as it cosmic, so...yeah.
Better call Sam and Dean.

No use here, and was not drinking at the time. My first thought was the light switch was 1/2 way up, but it seems the light will only turn on in the upward position, so 1/2 way up will not turn it on...It's just weird, but please lay off the drug use comments, especially on this type of forum.

2 things. First I was kidding about the drug use. The vast majority of responsible gun owners live above the influence of any drugs. Secondly, I will make whatever comments I feel like making as long as they don't violate forum protocols. That is regardless of the "type" of forum I'm on.

My sister's house:Yes
A neighbor informed my sister that the previous owner tried to OD. My sister was freaked out, so she had it blessed twice.
Everyone has a video camera on their person, or within reach, 24 hours a day.
There are security cameras and traffic cameras on most buildings and intersections throughout most cities.
Why don't we have proof of ghosts, aliens, Bigfoot, UFOs, etc.?
Reinforces my disbelief.
Don't freak yourself out, and you won't be freaked out.

I have lost the ability to be scared by ghouls and goblins ever since I started playing Condemned: Criminal Origins and F.E.A.R. in the dark alone in high school. That, and the night me and my friends snuck into the graveyard and stayed the night.

If a house was to be haunted in Denver, that would be my own...

Of course they are going to tell you that. That is like a salesman telling you that you don't need what he is selling.

I forgot that the previous owner of our house died in the bathroom. The neighbor was nice enough to tell my wife and daughter that at the first possible opportunity.
So far the most scary part of my house is the shoddy wiring the previous owner had done.

My parents are democrats. I think about getting a blessing for my house after every visit.
It anything is haunting my place, it's the departed spirit of a really lousy low- bid electrician.
Sent from my Duck Commander call.
I thought that the first thing you were supposed to do upon getting a new home was to christen every room.
I mean, that's just the way it's done, right?
Were they can lights? Can lights have triggers in them that will shut off if the temperature in the housing gets too high. Someone goes in the bathroom, turns the lights on and doesn't turn them off, light housing thermistor trips and lights shut off, you walk in and housing cools enough that the housing lights back up.. ghosts..
sent from a soup can and some string..
Joking aside dude...

What I thought, but sometimes we are too busy in this day and age to practice the proper ways....
But I guess I was too wise, or so I thought, and soI said since I am the first one living in it, that it wasn't needed...

I hear there's also a small teapot orbiting the sun between Mercury and Venus. We just don't have the technology to see it, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.

In all seriousness...
If you feel your house needs to be blessed- you don't need to bring anybody there to bless it.…. You have the authority in the name of Jesus to bless it...
We have addressed other issues this way... Long story...
Short version is I believe in a spiritual realm, and it is ALL about authority...
If this is all about being funny... Then "lol". [ROFL1]
We've never "had our house blessed", never even heard of that. But the lady we bought the house from had more pictures of Jesus in the house than I've ever seen in my life. No kidding, they were EVERYWHERE! She had more than any church I've ever been in. So I reckon we're safe, never seen any spooks yet.

I'm dismayed that evidently I'm the only one who understands the significance of christening a house.

I'm also with you- my point is just that you don't need to bring in an "expert" to do it...
I do see many are trying to make light of it.
A number of years ago, one of my daughters was having horrible nightmares- she awoke several times screaming, and then would be in hysterics, saying "the house is falling down"... Once it occurred to us it could be spiritual, we prayed against any evil spirits that could be influencing her, and banished them from the house in the name of Jesus... she looked at us, and said "the house is going to be ok" and went back to sleep... that nightmare never returned.
I believe the spiritual realm is very real- but to davsel's point, I don't think they can be photographed- otherwise they would have by now.
If it's stubborn, you need to find what authority has been given/granted to them, and break that tie. It's your house, you can claim authority over it.
The house I used to live in, the lamp in the living room turned off 3 times when my wife was there. I was in the living room once when this happened. The weirdest thing that happened was my wife and I when to some relatives house, the dryer door was opened. I didn't bless the house, but I did read my bible out loud. Nothing ever freaked my wife or I out.

I have Comcast Xfinity home, and I love watching the kids freak out on the surveillance camera, while I am turning the lamps on and off via the web portal. Priceless!
