View Full Version : Talk to me about Uzi's

I have been kicking around the idea of getting a Uzi in 9mm. From&nbsp;my research it looks like IMI is the way to go but is out of my price range. Something closer to my budget would be the vector. They can be had for -$950. Anyone have advice or experience to make my decision easier? I would eventually SBR down the road. Mags are not an issue so no need to bring that in the equation.&nbsp;<br>

I have even heard some good things about the Century UZI's. They are a pretty straight forward build. J&G has them for $599 I believe. I was toying getting one myself for an sbr.

I looked at the Century's but as always you can get a 50/50 shot with them. Since I plan on SBR'ing it I will spend the extra money to make sure I get a good platform.

Stick with IMI/IWI if you plan to SBR it. I've shot uc9 too. It feels the same, but imi uzi is all original and parts are interchangable w/ plenty of accessories.

I shot one in the basement shooting range of the Eshel Hashomron Hotel in the West Bank in Israel a few years ago. Full auto fun! I've wanted one ever since. I have nothing constructive to add to the conversation, it just made me think of that event.

Used to have a FA.
Sold it.
Would not buy another one.
If the semi fires from an open bolt like the FA, the big hunk of metal sliding forward does not help accuracy...

As much as I would love one I just can't afford one. My budget is going to be -$1000. It is defiantly a possibility if I pinch some pennies and save up for it.

It's worth the wait to save IMHO. Next range time, I'll bring mine along.

I hate you more and more each time we talk [Flower]. It sounds like a plan to me!

Save the money do a 9mm upper, or dedicated 9mm AR. Having owned the micro & full size pistol and the carbine. Outside of "novelty" they're a boat anchor to hump around.

The semis fire from a closed bolt, unlike the full size SMGs.

The mini and micro variants, both the mg and semis fired from a closed bolt in semi, while the mgs had a weird hybrid closed/open mode for automatic.

The vectors are supposed to be great guns, even the semis, with even better fit and finish work than the factory IMI guns had/have

That is definately a second option especially with a DDLES glock lower. I have kicked this idea long before I wanted an UZI. I appreciate all the responses so far!

I can bring my Uzi MG if we ever do a shoot I can make it too... ;) Might be heading out to GGC on Friday if it's at least 50degrees, and I almost always bring the uzi.

That being said, I don't know if a semi-auto uzi would have the same appeal as a full auto. It's great fun to watch it spit out bullets, but I've never bothered (or wanted) to use it one-shot-at-a-time for accuracy, etc.

If I was gonna shoot a lot, I'd probably go with an AR upper or something modern. Like Kazoo said, they are heavy and a bit clunky. I have a semi Vector and I like it, but mostly for the visual. I will say the vector is as well done as an original IMI, with the exception being the plastic is a little off (easy fix).

+2

But each to his own...

I have one and found it to be very accurate. Mine is semi and SBR'd, which is needed because it looks hideous with the longer barrel...
