A showdown is developing between a sizable number of Connecticut state police officers and the politicians who passed into law highly restrictive gun control (http://www.examiner.com/topic/gun-control), gun bans (http://www.examiner.com/topic/gun-bans), and bans on high capacity magazines.

Quote from the above link - "If such a thing can happen in a deeply blue state in New England, what would law enforcement encounter if they attempted such an ill-fated attack on Constitutionally-protected rights in Texas, Wyoming, South Carolina, Utah, or Kentucky?"

I'm curious if this story related to the other one that turned out to be a spoof?

Even if it did work out that police agencies refused to carry out the confiscations, the politicians would simply enact a new enforcement bureau charged with hiring new agents to carry out the will of the legislature. Probably call them State Agents or State Security (i.e. SA or SS), and give them nice brown or black uniforms.

"Connecticut police refuse to enforce new gun laws"

Sure hope this is true. But after hearing what the one disciplined officer had to say about being excited to kick in doors, I don't have alot of hope.

as it turns out, Joe Peterson is not on-duty at the moment- he is on worker's comp (and was at the time of that comment on Facebook)

I think there will be some on both sides of this...

This needs to get ugly for the politicians and the laws reversed ASAP. No officer should enforce confiscation.

One officer will need to enforce the law in order to get the case into a court where the constitutionality of the law can be determined. Short of having the legislature repeal the law, it is unlikely there is another legal way of removing the law from the books.

No one wants to be the test case, and considering the issue, it is sad that this would even need to go that route.

update to the updates: http://www.guns.com/2014/03/11/breaking-hoaxster-comes-forward-ct-state-police-protest-letter/

So the story about the 250 LEO's signing that they won't enforce was a hoax, and is a shining example of how many of these websites will post and re-post and forward inaccurate information without ANY fact checking...

Has anyone met any police/sheriff's/ATF agents lately that hold their responsibilities (feeding their family/paying the mortgage/clothing their kids/putting gas in their car) as being less important than my desire to own a gun?

Anyone? ....Bueller? ............Bueller???!

I know quite a few. I'll ask them.... and I will judge their answers one way or another, honestly.
