I was out shooting this past weekend and got in the thigh by a piece of ricochet. I've been hit by ricochets or spashes before, but this hit me hard enough that I was a little hesitant to look down. Once I looked down and didn't see a bunch of red stuff, I just carried on. I got home and my thigh was a little sore and I had a scab where I was hit. I didn't think anything had gone through, but I checked my pants today (two layers) and both had a .020" ish hole in them in the same corresponding spot where I was hit. The spot on my leg is a little raised but there is no bruising or pain. I dug around a bit with my knife so it doesn't feel spectacular right now….
Do I need to go to the hospital? That's not really my scene but i'd be willing to go iif i've got something in my leg that needs to come out and I can't do it myself. Anyway, this may be a totally obvious answer but I've never had this happen before so I hope to seek the collective wisdom of my peers.
Thanks!

Just drink lot's of whisky, and dig around some more. Can't find anything don't worry about it, carry on......
(My advice is not to be considered medical, in any way shape or form. I'm not a doc, just watched lot's of western growing up.)

I have a relative that caught a 12 ga. slug ricochet to the middle of the forehead and survived while shooting a steel target at about 30 yards.
He never went to a doctor.

Rub some dirt on it.
I would go get an X-Ray of it and see if there is anything in there.

I have a metal detector.... Glad you're ok! My buddy caught one to his forearm if it wasn't work related he said he would have kept shooting! But they had to get him cleared

[fag]Show us the X-ray of the thigh area......you know which one I'm talking about........
-thank you for not posting pics!
Curious... If you did go to the doc, would you have to deal with the fuzz since it is a GSW?
I would probably tell the doc that I was welding or doing some late night naked hobby metalwork. Darn slivers
Dig around more with knife, pour in peroxide, bandage it up or super glue and duct tape if you want to be a real man, and go about your business!

Don't get medical advice from a web site.
If in doubt see the doc.

Might not help you avoid a co-pay though...

On a mild tangent, I can look at my thumb and still see the piece of shrapnel that was lodged in there in 2002, when my shooting club first got steel plates and we set them all up perfectly straight at 10 yards and then ran a course of fire with ARs. A lot of lessons were learned that day, but not quickly; I was the sixth shooter through, despite watching three other people picking shrapnel out of their bodies after the course.
Like my dad always used to tell me "I've had bigger scratches on the head of my d$&k" but I do hope your okay. If it wasn't bleeding I say your fine. If it is just a little piece, it should fester and work it's way to the surface. Hopefully
I took a round to the throat during a match that drew blood once.

You win.
Haha, naw, it was like a pin drop of blood and only because the shrapnel was sharp. There was no mass to it.

I tried using one once, but it kept beeping every time I got near it.
Have you signed up with Healthcare.gov? lol

Whatever you do, don't go to a Malaysian Doctor; they'd never find it. [ROFL3]

lead bullet? could be an issue,
get it looked at. infections can be worse than the wound

This happened to me a couple of years ago; I was hit in the back of my leg with a fragment off a steel target about the size of a 22lr bullet. It went into the fatty tissue deep enough that it required surgery to remove. I was told the surgery was optional. Fortunately, it backed out after a few months; I am not sure that would happen again or not. There was a little blood when I was hit but not a lot. It just stung a little, but not a lot of pain. It was really uncomfortable sitting because the the bullet fragment was located right where my leg was at the end of a chair.
I have had a couple fragments enter my body. They fester and work there way out.
