View Full Version : Smokers and hunting
I'm a smoker and am kicking around the idea of trying bow hunting this year. I do not smoke when hunting during rifle season but, with the closer ranges in bow hunting, was wandering if scent blockers work for smokers, refrain for a couple days prior, go ahead and smoke to drive them your way or just a waste of time (never gonna mask it). Did a quick search but found nothing on topic.

Just leave your hunting clothes away from your smell. I leave mine in the garage or on a hanger outside my back porch. (My parents smoke, and I did this while I was growing up. It never stopped me from bringing home the critters.
FWIW, I just make sure I've got the right 'migration route' of the animals and keep the wind blowing in the right direction.
They smell you if your upwind... Period. Have you smelled someone's breath? Have you smelled you after a day of hiking? Wind is everything. All the fancy products on the planet won't fix that. But I need to quit too.
