Lake George 3-Gun matches are held on the 4th Saturday of the month between April and October with the occasional bonus matches the rest of the year. Start time is at 9:30, setup and sign-up start at 8:30. The match fee is $15. We generally have four stages that put all three guns to work. Stages will be emailed out to the email list and posted on this thread through a Google Drive account the Sunday or Monday before.

The match is held at the M Lazy C Ranch near Lake George. Official rules and safety information about the range can be found at http://www.coloradocowboys.net/sts/41-3gunshoot/61-3-gun- tactical- match-rules (http://www.coloradocowboys.net/sts/41-3gunshoot/61-3-gun-tactical-match-rules). The location of the ranch and general information can be found at http://www.mlazyc.com/.

I can be contacted through PM here or at michael.fromknecht@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to be added to the email list.

We're back everybody!

We're having the first match on March 29th along with a 3-gun clinic and swap meet.

I don't know about all of you but I think this winter has gone on long enough. Let's get out to the range for a new 3-gun season!

We're going to kick things off a little differently this year. Randy had the great idea of combining a shorter, 3 stage match with a clinic, swap meet, and a slightly later start time so it can warm up a little.

We want to welcome and encourage new shooters. My plan is to get there a little early to take some time with newer people, shoot the match, and then invite everyone to hang out afterwards. We can reshoot stages, slow things down, get some good practice time, and have a nice day at the range. We can also set up some mini stages together to try some things out. I know we have a lot of experienced shooters that also happen to be nice, helpful guys. So bring a friend. Pass the word along. It should be a great day for new and experienced 3-gunners alike.

Another new feature is a swap meet. Bring your old gear and guns and let them live again. Randy has offered to do transfers on site. I'm sure there will be some details to work out but this could be something that continues on.

I think I'd like to start the match around 10:00. It will just be for this month. I'll give a solid time when I send out the stages. I will also probably be there at my usual 8:30ish time to start setting up.

I'll send out another email with stages Sunday or Monday night as usual. The same invitation goes out to everyone that wants to help design them all through the year. Even if you just have an idea for part of a stage that you want to see become a reality. We had some great contributions last year that kept things fresh.

I think that about covers it for now but more information will follow as we get closer. Please contact me with anything I can help out with.

Great idea.

For those why may not have a good zero on their optics, what are the chances of having the opportunity for a few ranging shots prior to the match?

No problem at all. Just announce that the range is going hot and make sure anyone that's close has their ears on.

I'll notify Randy that the page isn't working. Here's the information:

M Lazy C Ranch
801 County Road 453
Lake George, CO 80827

Searching "M Lazy C Ranch" in Google maps works just as well. It's about 4 miles west of the town of Lake George on the 24. Look for the big red sign on the north side of the road.

Here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwRM3st9VvBrY0ExdUZwM21mRWc/edit?usp=sharing) are the stages for this Saturday's match. As always they're subject to change but round counts will be similar if they do. Since we are starting at 10:00 and doing the clinics afterwards there are only three stages this time. I think it will be a good way for everyone to get warmed up.

Remember that after we're done everyone is welcome to hang out, reshoot stages, and generally get some practice in. We want to do our best to get some new shooters into the fold and this seems like a pretty good way to do it. The response to the last email has been very positive and I'm really excited for this weekend.

You'll notice some new props on the stages. My neighbor (and recent newcomer to 3-gun) has been helping me put some new barricades together. There's a picture attached for reference. I think they're going to add a lot to the stage designs.

The match fee is $15. Sign-up and setup will start around 8:30.

Can you give some directions on where to go once I enter the ranch?
From Google maps, I can't tell where the range is on the property. Maybe it's obvious, just don't want to wander around on the property if not.
Thanks, we'll see yall tomorrow.

Take the turn off of the 24. You'll follow a dirt road north through some trees to the ranch. Keep going past the set of buildings. Look to the right and you'll see the range near the next tree line. There should be plenty of cars there and it's pretty obvious once you see it.

That was a great turnout we had yesterday! I hope everybody enjoyed the match. It was nice to see so many people stay afterward to get some practice in and helping each other out. I can't wait for the first regular match next month.

The results have been emailed out. I accidently left the clipboard with a bunch of new email addresses behind. If you are one of those people or know any of them have them email me. Sorry about that.

The next match is April 26th. We'll be back to regular format of 4 stages starting at 9:30. Stage diagrams will be sent out the weekend before. We may have even more props and a visit to the tower so look forward to that!

EDIT: Randy scanned the forgotten addresses and I got those added to the list.

It's the first official match of the season! There are four stages lined up including one at the tower. I'd like to thank Rosy for his contributions to some of the stage designs. He adds a bit of technical concentration to the mix.

As many of you know we had a pretty big crowd last month. We will start needing some more volunteers to RO and keep score as we run more squads. Talk to me and Randy on Saturday if you're up for it or want to start learning how.

Last month the idea of adding a "Tactical Rimfire" class to the match was brought to my attention. Since I'm not one to turn down a good idea that could attract some new shooters we're going to give it a try. It will be pistol and rifle only. The round count will be slightly modified to accommodate a lower overall capacity and lack of shotgun. There are a whole bunch of unknowns so I'm going to keep the plan very loose. Everyone shooting that class will be on a squad with me and the scoring will be separate. I think we can get a good base to build on from there.

I'd also like to keep the swap meet idea rolling. If you have any gear or guns to sell bring it up at the end of the shooters' meeting. If there are any big ticket items we can talk about adding a footnote to the emails or something like that.

I'm also happy to stick around and keep the post-match clinics going. A few people stayed late for practice and chatting. It was a good time.

Yesterday's match was a great time! It was my first 3-gun match and it was definitely worth the drive. Thanks to everyone that ran it!

For any of you all that were there- I was the dude with the broken down 1100. I was also the dude that shot the barrier (oops).

Many people experience reliability issues with 1100's at our altitude. Both my buddy and I got rid of our 1100's when they wouldn't run at the Lake George match. Mine would run fine in Springs and then puke up at the match every time. Don't know if altitude is really the problem. That was the only thing I could come come up with and it was a good enough excuse to convince the wife that I needed something different.

The results have been emailed out. If you were there and haven't received an email send me a PM or email with your address and I'll add you to the list.

I found out after the match that stage 1 may not have been run correctly by one of the squads and it looks like there was a recording error from the paper to the tablet. Everyone in my squad is showing the same time for stage 2 and 3 which is pretty unlikely. I'd recommend comparing times to people that you were shooting with to get an idea of your standing.

This links up with my main takeaway from this match. As you can see it was another incredible turnout. Between this and last month we're seeing a whole lot more shooters than we have before. Now we have to adapt from running one or two squads to managing three or maybe four. I know for sure that I need to make sure the newer shooters are spread out among the squads. I also see the value in having a quick 2-gun stage in the mix like we usually have.

On the plus side I've been getting a lot of positive feedback from you guys. It sounds like at least most of the people there had a lot of fun. The tower seemed to be a hit. As always I invite anyone to let me know what they would like to see more of and, more importantly, what you may not have liked. It's how I learn.

In short I ask that you bear with us while we adapt to these large turnouts and come back for more. Next month the match lands on Memorial Day weekend and that will shake things up a little, too.

This month's theme is speed! I've got four stages that should be pretty fast to shoot and reset. Not a whole lot of tricks or elaborate target placement.

I'm going to keep the "tactical rimfire" class an option. It is a variant for a rimfire rifle and pistol with lower round count and no shotgun using the same stages. If anybody is interested find me before we get started.

The stages can be found HERE (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwRM3st9VvBrWEFhWElGSDZRTjQ/edit?usp=sharing).

Get out your big rifle magazine because we've got a hoser stage this month! We're also heading back to the tower and there are two slug targets.

Anyone interested in tactical rimfire let me know before we squad up. Even though nobody's shot it yet I do get the occasional question so I'll keep mentioning it.

More "target rich environments" you say? Now that there are so many people participating maybe I won't feel bad about using so many of Randy's targets!

There were 33 shooters on 4 squads yesterday. The score spreadsheet and the email list are getting longer. We also got some new props this month with the possibility of getting more next time. This thing just keeps getting bigger.

This month the 360 berm is filled with pistol steel and the activated targets are back. Just like with the rifle stage last month this one may be a little different on game day. We've also got a couple slugs going through paper for a change.

There are only two MLC matches before the big Noveske 3-gun in August!

If anyone is interested in learning how to run the timer and keep score we could use some more RO's. Just volunteer to take over for a couple shooters and ask for pointers. You'll get the hang of it and it will be a big help.

We've got a couple concepts that we don't usually see at the match this month. There are parts inspired by some of the stages in the Noveske match the following week. Obviously they're not just copied but I hope some people will get some helpful training and everyone else will get something a little different. Brad also came up with a pretty fantastic pistol idea for the 360 berm. I think you're all going to like it.

It's almost time! 4 stages plus a team stage.

It's September so that means the proceeds go to the Park County Republican Party and there will be a bbq lunch afterwards. Randy has arranged some trophies and maybe more?

Most of you know that we've been getting a pretty big turnout this year and running 4 squads. I'm anticipating a 5th this month and I want to keep everyone busy. If there are 4 squads or less we might remove the train stage (stage 3) so we can keep things moving and have time to eat and get the awards out.

The team stage is going to be part of the rotation so everyone who wants to participate gets a chance. It is designed for more experienced shooters with some close proximity shooting and a hot pistol re-holster. Safety is still #1 and everyone on the range will need to be very aware of each other and their muzzles. It will also be scored separately so anyone not participating won't be behind on their overall time. Try to squad up with your team. If for some reason that doesn't work out get 2 on the same squad and we'll pull the 3rd over to shoot when it's time.

The match fee is $15 and $12 for lunch. Sign-up and setup will start around 8:30 (I'll be there earlier this month) and we start shooting at 9:30.

For October I am trying to see if we can do the match in the evening. This will mean some low-light flashlight stages and maybe even some spooky Halloween fun. There are a lot of factors involved including Colorado weather so I'm not 100% sure if it will turn out that way but I wanted to give everyone some advanced notice. I will have a much better idea by the time the stages are sent out.

It looks like the evening match is on! This is the last one of the season and I'm hoping it will be a fun way to wind it down.

I want us to start shooting at 4:00 and be done by 7:30. I'm going to try and get there around 2:30 to set up. There's almost no paper to tape and two stages with only two guns to speed things along. We all need to be on top of keeping the shooting order flowing and picking up brass and hulls as we go along. What this month is lacking in length I'm hoping it will make for in LIGHTS.

Here are the rules I'm making up for lights:

- If it's not incendiary it goes. Flashlights, headlamps, glow sticks, lanterns, and whatever won't start a fire is ok by me.

- Stages start with lights off.

- All illumination must be mounted or start out on your person. If you want to throw something out or set something down it happens on the clock.

- If you're not shooting try and keep any additional lights off while the shooter is going.

Don't forget to bring some practical lights for walking around and resetting. If there's anyone that can bring some portable work lights for tearing down that would be nice, too. I'm pretty sure there's no electricity on the range.

If the schedule or anything else changes I'll send an email out during the week. Right now the weather forecast is in our favor.

It was a clear, starry night. No moon in the sky. A hint of smoke in the air from the shooting and a controlled burn the forest service was doing nearby. In other words, it was REALLY DARK!

Everyone did a great job keeping the safety standards up last night. I think everyone really discovered the limits of their gear and the surprising things that happen shooting in the dark. Did you know that the smoke after a couple shots lights up and blocks your vision really well?

That wraps up the 2014 season. April will be the next planned match but if we can get there in March I'll send the word out. I'd like to do another clinic day like we did this year to start off.

See you all next year!

It's April in Colorado which means we have no idea what the weather will be like! I'm seeing rain in the forecast but it seems to change every time I check. To be on the safe side I have four stages with not a whole lot of movement and no prone shooting

Is it just me or did the 4th Saturday this month show up really fast?

There are a couple interesting things going on this month. The tower gets its first stage of the year. I also have some pistol targets shot while retaining a hot (but safe) rifle. It's a very small section and I think I have the safety angles covered but I have an alternate shooting order prepared for anyone who may choose not to do it that way. I realize it's a slightly more advanced tactic.

I'd also like to thank Tim "Top Fueler" Buhler for designing stage 3 this month! It looks good to me and some close-up rifle paper is always fun.

I don't know how we've been getting so lucky with the weather this year but it was yet another great day in the mountains. It made up for last week for sure. We also had a pretty good turnout considering the delay and the threat of bad weather with 38 shooters.

Thanks again to Tim for stage 3 on the 360 berm. I thought it was a lot of fun.

I hope you enjoyed the little shotgun reloading drill on the train stage. Next month we're going to have a 20ish round shotgun stage with slugs. Some of you asked for it and I plan to deliver. This month's cancelled tower stage will also be back.

See you again next month.

Sure got hot today, right? How about all that shotgun? I'd like to start upping the shotgun round count on a regular basis but not quite to the extreme the flat range saw today. Maybe closer to 16 on a stage or two.

We had another good showing with 39 shooters. I hope you had all had a good time with a couple of stages that were a little outside the norm.

There was some confusion on one of the score sheets regarding the stage order. I think I got it sorted out but if there's an error I'm sure I'll hear about it. The overall rankings wouldn't be affected.

See you next month. I'll try and be a little more organized when it's time to start. It was a very hectic morning.

Looks like this will be the last match of the year so we're going big. My goal is to make all 4 stages a little busier than usual and they all use every gun. That also means there's going to be a lot of resetting so make sure everybody's helping out.

The stages can be viewed HERE (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwRM3st9VvBrZU95b01EeU02WkE/view?usp=sharing) and all the info is in the opening post.

As always you're welcome to PM me with any questions and we hope to see you Saturday!

Bumping for the match tomorrow.

I also had to update the stages thanks to a spectacular series of errors on my part. You can grab them HERE (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwRM3st9VvBrYzZ6b3pxZEZqYjQ/view?usp=sharing).

My thanks to everyone who came out yesterday and all year. It wouldn't be possible without all the great people that come out to shoot, help setup and tear down, RO, and keep the stages moving.

I'm also very excited to report that as of yesterday after the match I we're looking good for 2016!

The scores have been sent out via the mailing list.

Thank you for putting on another great match! Could do without the hostages that kept jumping in front of my rifle though.

Glad to hear things are working out for next year - hate to lose this match.

Thanks again!

I'm sorry to say that the 3-Gun match at the M Lazy C Ranch will not be continuing this year.

The new owners have decided to focus on other aspects of the ranch and I wish them well.

I had a great time organizing the match the last couple seasons. I'd like to thank Al for all he did over many years. Carey for his time at the helm. Randy and the M Lazy C Ranch for letting us come play on that beautiful piece of property. There are too many people to name who helped set up, build props, design stages, run squads, and generally went the extra mile to keep the match going every month.

Finally thanks to all of you who simply showed up to join in the fun. Last year saw a lot of growth. At times it was a little overwhelming but it was also a fantastic sight to see. I was just a guy who resurrected a mailing list and did my best to make up some stages to keep the match alive. You all made it worth it for me and I feel like we grew together.

The good news is that there are several matches around these days. There's CRC Multigun in Byers, SoCo 3-Gun at Pikes Peak Gun Club, Big Ben at Ben Lomond Gun Club, and Weld County 3-Gun. There are also events at the Pawnee Sportsman Center and Gunnison Sportsman Association Gun Club, and Raton's NRA Whittington Center. That's just what I could come up with at the moment.

Not bad, right? I'll certainly be getting around this year and I encourage you all to do the same if you haven't already.

Thanks again to all of you.

Ah man! I was going to give it a go this year. 15 minutes from home would have been nice. Bummer :(.
