View Full Version : Fnp 45
I am a confirmed 1911 guy. But every thirty years or so I consider upgrading. The FNP appeals because of the exposed hammer that I am used to. Does anyone have experience with the FNP 40 or FNP 45 ? I would appreciate your opinions positive or negative as far as accuracy, reliability, ease of use, etc.
Thanks

The FNP-45 USG is an excellent choice for the 45 ACP..
Do you have one? If so, what are the pluses or minuses that you experienced?
I was seriously getting ready to start a thread asking about this guy. I just held the .40 and I loved the way the trigger felt in SA - very little reset, pull felt pretty light as well. With 16 rounds of .45acp I think I may be sold.
Graves, in holding both the 40 and 45 I thought the 40 was very agile. The 45 "seemed" a lot bigger and was heavier than the 40.
I agree 16 rounds of 45ACP is appealing.

Guns with externals hammers are relics and not needed anymore! lol, ok /sarcasm off.
Sacrilege....
If you have any of the external hammer relics that you don't need anymore, please, let me know.

I have a black/stainless fnp45 and I love it. its very accurate, reliable, but it is kinda big on me(170lbs). It isnt picky as to what ammo to shot it is great with them all. I have two bladetech holsters IWB/OWB and i can conceal it well either way. FN customer service is unmatched.

You are a man. That is a big gun to CCW. I haven't fired one, but I played with one at the counter. BIG. If after 16 rounds you aren't finished you could club someone with it. It seems to have little 'respect' out there, but that seems mainly from a lack of push from FN. If it came in a SAO only Ambi safety model, I'd be in for one. The ones with the psuedo SAO mode don't quite do it for me.

Had a usg model (dark earth and manual safety). Felt great, a pleasure to shoot especially one handed. Mine started to have FT Feed and eject problems. Most problematic were Federal HST 230 gr +p then it started to have the same problems with Golden Sabers. Sent it back to FN. They went throught it and said to "find the right kind of ammo". It then started to not feed ball ammo. Really wanted that weapon to work. Returned it to FN. By the way I have 2 FNP 9s that have been flawless and I carry my fnp usg fde 9 daily. Good luck hope they worked out the problems as the FNP 45 is a great concept.

im sorry to hear that about your FN. I have never had this problem with mine before. I carry Federal HST in 230 +p all the time and have never had a problem( Ive onl shot 50 due to expence). I dont shot golden sabers but I reload Hornady XTPs a lot and have also never had a problem with them. I expected problems out of them due to the angles but I was wrong. I have never experincedany problems with my FN no FTF, FTE, ST, ND etc. I would like to know what FN was willing to do for you. You can PM me.
To Frommycoledeadhand:
I love to carry this gun. Its big but with the bladetech IWB it impossible to see it. I also like it because with just one mag and one chambered and I have as much ammo on tap as two of my 1911 mags.
