A prominent California lawmaker was arrested on Wednesday in an FBI sweep that netted 26 people, a high-profile case that could affect statewide elections and brings to three the number of Democratic state senators who face criminal charges this year.
Senator Leland Yee, a former San Francisco supervisor and one-time mayoral candidate, was criminally charged in federal court in San Francisco with two felony counts of conspiring to import and traffic in firearms, and six corruption counts.
Yee was released on $500,000 bond and declined to comment on the case.
A criminal complaint posted online by the U.S. Attorney office for the Northern District of California alleges that Yee did favors for an undercover FBI agent in exchange for campaign contributions. The complaint alleges that Yee also offered to facilitate a meeting between the undercover agent and an arms dealer, and discussed the types of weapons that the undercover agent might need.

In a normal state, this type of thing might have an impact. However, it's California.
That's the 3rd Ca state dem to go down within the past 2 years. Really funny thing is this guy was one of them main pushes behind getting rid of the bullet button.

According to Zero Hedge.
Yee discussed helping the agent get weapons worth $500,000 to $2.5 million, including shoulder-fired missiles, and explaining the entire process of acquiring them from a Muslim separatist group in the Philippines to bringing them to the U.S., according to the court document by FBI agent Emmanuel V. Pascua.
You gotta be SH#TTING ME. Shoulder fired missiles?

At a California penal institution on visitation day. Ask for guy named Yee.
Lobbed from my electronic ball and chain.

Nope, he is out on 500k bond.
*waits for the property confiscation since it is linked to illegal activity*

Wish they'd add in terrorism charges for the missiles. Would add to the deliciousness.

In a normal state, this type of thing might have an impact. However, it's California.
And that is the sad truth. Although I could give two-shits about the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia, they keep sending their liberal leaning refugees to Colorado, and instead of learning from their stupid mistakes in experimental voting, they keep their liberal gun-control ideas and begin trying to influence their new environment.
If you come to Colorado please leave your liberal agenda back home.

Perfect example of how all those sensible gun laws are keeping dangerous assult weapons with large capicity mags from the hands of criminals. Lol
He'll play the race card, make a deal, get a little time to brush up on his tennis skills at the country club, and exit a highly compensated political consultant.

Here's the affidavit concerning the circumstances surrounding Leland Yee's arrest. It's a long read, but some parts are interesting.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/214742839/Unsealed-Yee-affidavit
Skimming through section 1-B for the list of complainants gives you an idea of how broad this investigation was and the people that Yee was involved with. You don't get hooked up with folks like that over the course of a month or so... he was obviously tied in with the tongs for a while.
Skip 1-C where it lists the statutes violated, unless you want to read a shitload of legalese.
Section 2 where we get into the summary of the investigation detailing the FBI's probable cause reads like a freaking miniature crime novel.
*If* everything the FBI is alleging is true then Yee is dirty as fuck and knew exactly what he was doing. He didn't get shanghaied (pardon the pun, but I had to do it!) into all this. He knew who he was associating with, the fact that what he was doing was illegal, and what the potential consequences could be.

I suspect he knew full well what the consequences could be, but like every other politician, those consequences are deemed to be for the little people. I don't think for a second that he ever thought he was going to get caught, he very likely thought he was too smart to get caught, just like every other politician thinks.
