View Full Version : Anyone have a pneumatic upholstery stapler?
I need to shoot about 50-100 1/4" narrow crown wire staples, preferably stainless but galvanized would do and would rather not spend $$$ on a one use tool or get the wrong one.
Stapling through Marine vinyl into hard plastic backing.
My other option is to hit up a Craigslist upholsterer or Pauls canvas but would prefer a member - metro area or south.
Pulled 1/4" Wire staple on left, 3/8" t50 on right for reference.
Can pay in beer or ammo or $.

I'm in Parker. If you can check that it is 22 gauge and will take 1/4" long 3/8" narrow crown wire staples, that would be great.
I can probably also bring Bert his favorite frosty beverage and just run up there with the piece as it's small enough. Wish I had some smithing work to bring him.
I'll have to poke around and see if anyone carries the dang SS staples. I betcha Fastenal has them, but I probably need to buy 5000.

Thanks Bert!
Let me see what my options are and get back to you.
What's your favorite beverage?
Tears of liberals and hipsters. Ice cold

Dry or wet?
I've heard dry can plug up male's pee-holes.

My stapler shoots 3/16" wide crown staples. I have 9/16" long on hand.

Thanks for checking Bert,
I'm hoping this other one works out best. He said he has the exact wire staples in stainless I need to run. Someone I know from the audio forum and he's a woodworker/carpenter/cabinetmaker/contractor with all the cool toys. Kinda like you but with wood. :D

So now Bert is woodless, sad sad day![gohome]

If you could, let me know what stapler he has and if its the right one. My narrow crown staplers are much narrowererer[Dunno]. I know you are set, but I do have an electric stapler that shoots the T50 staples that you could use, I bought it for some leather upholstery work I did a while back. I might be rather close to you also.

Will do.
Thanks for the offer but I have an electric T50 I bought to do my jetski seat years ago. Biggest POS and waste of money ever. I did use it for some other simple upholstery work, but it wouldn't shoot 1/4" staples through the marine vinyl and HARD plastic seat base. Had I put more research and thought to it like I did this time, I'd probably have bought a Porter-Cable like all my other air nailers.
As I understand it;
The 3/16 narrow crown (and long staples) are meant for nailing hardwood, flooring, crown moldings and millwork, fencing, etc.
Most 3/8" (and wider) that can shoot short 22 gauge staples are intended for upholstery work. Porter-Cable US58 is one I could have run over to HD and picked up if they carried them in store and I wasn't being cheap and spent so much on this boat already. I'm having second thoughts about just getting one, but there's none to be found locally. There's lots of others and "marine" kits on fleabay when I was looking for something. Technically according to this chart, 3/8 is "medium crown" but every manufacturer I've seen calls it narrow crown. It's also called "Senco C-type 22 gauge."

The current mac-daddy of affordable upholstery staplers is the Grex. This bad boy is select-fire.
