I built an upper with a Rainier Arms 18" match SPR barrel and a Rainier Arms NiB BCG. When I used Forster .223 go gauges, the go gauge would not chamber. I removed the extractor and the extractor pin before checking headspace. However, when I used a different bolt it headspaced fine.
I called Rainier Arms about it and they said I got my result because I used a .223 Remington go gauge rather than a .223 wylde go gauge.
If the barrel is supposed to be able to shoot .223 Remington shouldn't the .223 Remington go gauge have chambered then?
Am I wrong in my assumption or could the bolt be out of spec or the headspace need to be corrected?
