View Full Version : Flashlights... Green Light Flashlights... Need help finding one.
So, my question is, what is the best flashlight that is either a green light flashlight, or that can be converted to a green light flashlight? I was looking at Surefire's, but I can't find any... not even a green replacement lamp. So, I am asking for help here on the availability of green lights, and which is good enough for night time hog hunts that won't break during moderate use, or by being dropped on a rock on accident.

I have a gerber light that has a multi lens end, you spin the top and it clicks the different lenses over the led.....blue, red, green, and white iirc. Kind of a crappy little light though. You could maybe look for the old military flash lights with the different color lenses in the tail cap - even if you didn't use the light you could snag the lenses out of it.
I have a few new Princeton Tec Quad Tacticals laying around. Interchangeable red, green, blue and clear lenses. 60 lumens. About 50 meter illumination distance. Three light levels and a strobe.
Been using one for about a year and like it.

Give one of these a try: http://www.lasergenetics.com/
The don't put out normal light, but are lasers with a lens that allows you to focus it.
The lowest price one in $145.99 : http://www.lasergenetics.com/nd1.aspx
and is listed with a 100Yd range.
The big daddy is $599.99 and listed to illuminate targets to 500 Yds : http://www.lasergenetics.com/nd3x50-sub-zero-laser-designator.aspx
Checked MidwayUSA on the Laser Genetics stuff and they have better prices than the manf site.

I used one on a hog hunt in Texas last month and it did a great job, plus the one I used it rechargeable

This is the one I use for flying and it works great.
Eagletac t20c2 has a few different drop in modules.

Green is the color that is easiest for your eyes to pick up. Putting a green filter on a flash light will do more damage to your night vision than, say, a red filter.
Is there a reason for green rather then red?

I have the Elusive Wildlife Kill Light in red. I have used it to take a lot of coyotes. It was pretty easy to identify targets at close to 200 yards. Rechargeable batteries make it really nice.

Have you looked at the streamlight game spotter? Think TLR1 in green.

Green is much harder for night vision optics to pick up (why the military uses it) and most animals can not see it either. Green (given the same intensity) will hurt your night vision more than red though. Red filters on many "white" lights are too white and red can be eye fatiguing as well.
All depends on what you need to do/see. The topic is much broader than the marketing. :)
Where are you hunting hogs in co???
This is for hogs in Texas. Not for me either. The guy wants a green handheld light that can take a beating.

Might be what you are looking for ...
Is there an aftermarket company that has green LED's for Surefire's?
From another thread: http://shop.gregmcgeeengineering.com/GREEN-LED_c16.htm
I just bought a Surefire 6P because they have a 210 lumen green LED conversion for it.
